Sneaky backdoor moved all the way to NYC..No model had that and noone forecasted that..

Looks like it kind of washed out and moves back north tonight..Steamy weekend ahead to close out summer.

Couple of interior storms Sunday but a good day overall..Maybe like yesterday.

Monday stormy.

After that signs front doesn't come thru cleanly and next weeks dry, cool shot a  little iffy

Was neither in my life. I would argue Carla beat it in every category but deaths (which is pretty big....)

Sat pic? Certainly not any pics that even resemble Katrinas symmetry. Carla

Total damage in Texas was estimated at' $300 million,
Highest winds 1-minute sustained:

175 mph (280 km/h) Lowest pressure 931 mbar (hPa); 27.49 inHg

two-thirds t'o property and one-third to crops. fatalities
were 34 in Texas, 6 in Louisiana, 5 in Kansas, and 1 in
Missouri. Of the 34 dead in Texas 8 were killed in a
tornado which swept across Galveston from the Gulf as
the hurricane  was subsiding. Eight tornadoes in all
were associated with Carla in Texas arid 10 in Louisinna.
Persons injured in Texas totaled 465; 1,915 homes, 568
 buildings, and 415 other buildings were destroyed;
7,398 homes, 1,382 farm buildings, and 1,219 other build-
ings received major damage; and 43,325 homes, 4,238
farm buildings, and 9,268 other buildings received minor damage

Katrina
Highest winds 1-minute sustained:

175 mph (280 km/h) Lowest pressure 902 mbar (hPa); 26.64 inHg

Damage: $81 billion total; $40.6 billion in insured losses

Deaths (direct and indirect: 1,833 total; 1,577 in Louisiana, 238 in Mississippi, 14 in Florida, two in Georgia, two in Alabama

Hurricane Katrina devastated far more residential property than had any other recent hurricane, completely destroying or making uninhabitable an estimated 300,000 homes.

hard to explain this...but i feel like this week is a really solid example of one of those stretches of weather forecasting where the brain is still in the previous season's mode (summer) but the weather isn't (fall). i know that doesn't make much sense. lol.

but sort of like that first week or two when the pattern adjusts from a late season cool winter regime to spring....and everyone busts low on temps for days.

Definitely a cool feel here. Dews only around 60-62 which feels fine when it's 67F.
