It went over tips head.....

Oh, I think I get it -- you're saying I must have too much free time to pen those diatribes ... yadda yadda yadda, yuck yuck yuck, you suck.

I lost my main gig a while ago and am currently in the job market, seemingly for the sole purpose to play tortured muse to some deviant economic god.

Let me give the general audience here just a little piece of advice.  The instant you sense something is wrong at your place of employment, SOMETHING IS WRONG.  Don't wait around.  Don't get complicit, or delusional that your somehow indispensable and so well liked by your brethren of colleagues that they'd hold onto you during troubled times.

Let me let you in on something:   You suck.   You always suck.  Yeah, you go through life...you have your husband and wives, and your circle for friends, and your hobbies, and sometimes all that puts you on top of the world. Other times, it puts you in eras of apparent duress.  Either way, all the while these forces move you around the chest board of life, you suck.

What that means is never assume you are safe.  When your number comes up on the x-y coordinate of some business metric/matrix, your toast.

About 5 months prior to me and others being laid off that faithful Thursday, I noticed that my daily tasks were disappearing.  It was almost more humane to fumble around with the web, things got so barren.  At some point over last year, they failed to re-up on some big contract that atoned for some 18% of their incoming revenue stream.  Anyone that knows corporate, knows that's just too big of a whack.   Light dawned that something may be wrong when one of my colleagues, who (interestingly) I had noticed the week before, was NOT losing task requests, sat through about two minutes of accolades during a departmental meeting where/when I had almost no reason to raise a hand and contribute at all!    It was at that moment that my doctrine spoke to me, that it was happening.

But I ignored it.  Why?  Because unlike any other previous place of employment, I had grown colleague-close to my family of co-workers.  Hell, even to this day we still occasionally partake in a evening at a restaurant.  I was given 3.5 weeks of vacation a year.  And the benefits there were ridiculous.  I was vested for several thou in my 401K within my first 18 mo there.  It was incredible.  Did not want to lose it, and so, stupidly, ignored the signs.

The hidden moral to this true fable is that ...and I am really perplexed why this has to be the case, it is very difficult to find the appropriate job (that fits with one's baser economic needs) when you do not have one.  So I left that job on, as they say, "good terms." I was even given a beautifully written PDF/recommendation to take to my next would-be employer.  Recommendations don't pay mortgages.

You are good John. This is well stated and your writing style is excellent.

Ac tonight . First time in over a month .with dews 70+ gotta fire it up to sleep

ORH's dew at 7pm was 63F up there at 1K feet.  We know your climo runs close to that.

I honestly didn't see it becoming this humid.  Its 70/67 up here right now... not hot by any means but humid.  And it feels much worse because of the cool weather for all of August.  We had more dews in the 40s this August than we did in the 60s.

Probably a post for ORH/Will... but the poster formerly known as ChrisM wants to know what the annual snowfall is at his new place in Winsted, CT on Highland Lake.  I looked on Google and it should be right around 900ft of elevation.  Its like due north of Torrington.

Just looking at it on a map, I'd assume that area does nicely on easterly flow systems being more on the east side of the Litchfield Hills.  I'd think he'd radiate nicely being at around 900ft and having some 1,200ft hilltops nearby... probably decouple decently.

I'd say around 65" per year. He won't really get LE leftovers save for maybe some flurries, but that spot will get some enhancement in easterly flow setups.

The better snows are probably just to his W and NW in Norfolk and Goshen as they're somewhat higher and closer to the crest. Norfolk has some locations that are likely near 80" per year, especially at 1.5K near the MA line.
