i still think next week is warm... the euro has been waffling with the weakness. the 12z run would be a ruined vacation for me

thing is on the Cape in Ptown that kind of setup often features inland issues with pretty nice coastal clearing on the beach days. It is surprising how many crappy days in late summer just inland are pretty nice right on the ocean.

Many places had rain during that storm. Some ski resorts in the Catskills reported close to 10 feet of snow while the greens reported heavy rain.

We got like 3 feet of mashed potatoes then 2" of rain on Mansfield.

The Mansfield COOP station had like 5.5-6" of QPF fall in that like 3-4 day period. It looked like the pacific NW with runnels on top of all the new snow. Cream cheese consistency.

Peak official wind gusts of 91 mph (146 km/h) in Portsmouth and 94 mph (151 km/h)[8] at Seabrook Station Nuclear Power Plant were recorded. A gust of 132 mph (212 km/h) was recorded at Mount Washington.[13] More than 230,000 homes and business lost power due to the storm in New Hampshire.[7]

Now this is what a summer evening should feel like..you can sense the joy and freshness of this scene..No 40's..no 70's with a chilly breeze..just a season in a season

Another incredible evening on New England's waters - lakes and ocean, alike. 0-2' seas, air temps in the 80s, light wind.

The Catskills did not have 10' of snow, but many had 3-4'.

Plattekill reported close to 10 feet and I believe belleayre reported over 8, Hunter reported 7 feet. It's a moot point though, I get what Ginxy was trying to say in regards to the possibility of areas south seeing snow while it rains in Maine.

I believe amounts in the 5-6 foot range form those two storms in the high Catskills, but not 8-10 feet.

Slide Mountain at 2650 feet reported 51 inches in the two storms. That was coop and I think they only measure once per day so there was definitely some settling which could mean that using 6 hour measurements that 51" is as high as 65" or something.

I think the SFM readings are fine. They're a good torch/rad spot. Thing is...with all of those 88's I'd venture to guess that those 32C obs were probably only 89F, but we don't get the T group in the METARs for most AWOS sites.

Only 88F at BDL and a weak sauce +3 on the daily mean departure.

I'm trying to find the exact numbers...I want to say Hunter, Whindham in the Catskills and Woodford in Bennington County VT exceeded 5 feet and may be as high as 70-80".

The VT reading surprises me because they had a pretty decent period of taint. Though I'm sure they probably got orographic enhancement even after the storm occluded.

Regardless, some monstrous totals happened in elevated areas during that. But I'm skeptical of stuff over 6 feet unless its got some solid proof with it...there's always a couple weenie readings in big events where you immediately put the skeptic hat on. Doesn't mean they are always wrong, but frequently they are.

Exactly, ski resorts always pull this kind of crap but the amounts hey reported was staggering.
