Outside of the CT River Valley the hills hold snow so it's more of a season here than in the valley. There's times that it's a different world up here between times that it snows here and not in the valley.

It's not even an argument. It's comparable to a winter weather enthusiasts living in Atlanta.

If you expect anything noteworthy here, 8/10 times you will be disappointed. Probababy even more. That's great if people are severe enthusiast like yourself.....nothing wrong with that, but there is a lot more that needs to go right getting anything more than a few CGs as compared to

Getting a winter storm in SNE.

I don't expect anything noteworthy here...I just have that reputation b/c how I was when I was first on here.  When we have these marginal setups, which is what we usually deal with i just believe they need to be payed attention to b/c you just never know...but many just like to discount everything.  And since I love convection, I just want anything I can get...even if it's two strikes...that's all I want but nobody seems to get that.  Everytime a thread is made for convection everyone assumes it's made for a possible outbreak.

No, I don't think you assume an outbreak. Like I told you a few weeks ago, your posts have gotten much better and you discuss pros and cons. CT does do better tstm wise, but it's not common to get shear and CAPE overlap like they do in NY or NNE.

Severe season here is just going to disappoint if you expect big events...they are rare. They do happen, but typically we have a very specific set of parameters that need to be in place. 6/1/11 had them...so did outbreaks like 5/31/98, and to a lesser extent 8/2/06, 6/6/05.

I love your severe posts...I wish you would post more during the summer...even if the events are marginal.

Paul i think you do an excellent job prior laying things out and do put caveats in your discussions however, you seemingly fail to read your caveats and then after things dud you meltdown. Severe is a rare event in SNE, isolated or not.

You're right. I do. its only because i love thunderstorms and i know being where i am it just doesn't happen that much and there has always been a part of me since when i was younger that always just thinks that you will never know when it will happen.

I just am not seeing folks here hyping 1-3 storms like blizzards, pretty sophisticated knowledgeable posters here for the most part.

I can sort of see his point though...all he's saying is we will get much more excited over even a 1-3 inch clipper system than we will over 98% of severe setups. The hype does get to be a bit much in all seasons, but the winter excitement is certainly on a whole other level.

But I'm right in that group...I'd rather talk snowstorms all year round, lol.

Spot on.

It's just how these weather boards have always been...doesn't matter if its an old list-serve, Wright-Weather BB, EasternUSWX or AmericanWX forums, winter was always the main reason for those discussion boards.

East coast weather weenies love their snowstorms.

Even an organized area of snow showers will have more analytical discussion than most summer weather around here... folks spending days looking at even the NOGAPS and every WRF run along the east coast, plus SREFS (which we use so much in the winter but never mention in the summer) for winter weather events. But winter weather is just more exciting to me, and I think the widespread nature of it makes it feel like everyone can get in on the action. I mean look at Wiz, he spends all this time analyzing and then gets angry when he doesn't see anything...who wants that?
