SJonesWX
Fooking 100 min commute to work just now. 93N, and even 128 for that matter seems to be a disaster coming out of the city. i am glad to be sitting here not going anywhere. well, maybe to the bar across the street
CoastalWx
3.74" at BDL lol Storm on Long Island looks impressive... that has spinner potential. I think having that LLJ just sit over SNE allowed for bands of heavy rain and embedded thunder. I was wondering about that last night..usually the best dynamics move in during the day, but the LLJ has been over us all day. I didn't expect all day rain over my hood and that's what happened since like 8am. I guess the 12z SPC WRF hinted at it.

powderfreak
KBOX VAD has 50kts at 5000ft. Too bad instability is near zero at the surface.Picnic tables at 4k rocking back and forth.I'm not sure why this made me think of it, but I was talking with a BTV employee recently of a nocturnal event last summer where radar was showing 70kts at like 1000ft over BTV but nothing was happening at the surface. The storm couldn't break the nocturnal SFC inversion and the radar captured severe wind as low as 400ft AGL. That storm produced a 90mph gust on Mount Mansfield, and nothing over 20mph under the inversion.

powderfreak
From MWN: As of 2:00 PM this afternoon, the summit has received an incredible 3.43" of rain since 3:40 AM this morning. This is the highest rainfall total within this short of a time span since Tropical Storm Irene passed over the summit in August of 2011, dumping 6.66" of rainfall. And...it's still coming down!
