Kevin Shaw
I would like to know if there is anything currently going on with cloud seeding projects, particularly in the state of Maryland, but also in general as to testing current theories on how to implement cloud seeding, particularly in areas that are ravaged by drought, to help increase precipitation chances and thereby amounts. I looked through American Weather extensively and didn't find this topic discussed ,but I could have missed it. If someone could let me know if such a topic does exist so I could visit it and learn more. I have a COOP observer friend who owns a farm in northern Maryland in the Thurmont/Emmitsburg area who is quite interested in this topic, and would join in on the discussion if there was one, after he joined American Weather of course. f2tornado
The state of North Dakota has been running a program for decades. The page is here: http://www.swc.state.nd.us/4dlink9/4dcgi/GetSubCategoryRecord/Atmospheric%20Resources/ND%20Cloud%20Modification%20Project They even have a couple radars which happen to fill in gaps from the WSR-88Ds. Kevin Shaw
Thanks f2tornado - will check out that website and pass it on to my friend. He is helping write an article on cloud seeding for his local business newsletter in Taneytown Maryland. Walrus
