Woke up this morning to an absolutely beautiful 56 deg   This summer has been amazing :)

Agreed!  Awesome to get temps in the 50's in August.  I could get use to this.  57 in Saint Matthews is what we bottomed out at this morning.  Will make another run at the upper 50's again tonight

Looking at the Columbia data back to 1887, the avg. high temps for the period Jun 1 to Aug 25 are the 8th coolest on record, with avg. high temp of 87.9.

For the same period for avg. highs, 2012 ranked 31st warmest (91.5), 2011 ranked 2nd warmest (95.5), and 2010 ranked 6th warmest (94.2)

A lot of the average temperate departures aren't as impressive since low temps have been quite warm (a few weeks being the exception like right now), but the max temp averages have been low for most of the SE.

Avg. highs this summer are the 4th coolest in Birmingham since 1895 and 6th coolest in Macon, GA since 1892

I only got to 60.2.  I was hoping for 50's.   And, yeah, just a few days of dry air has the woods crunchy underfoot.  I'll start getting real paranoid if we don't get some drizzle coming soon.  I'm thinning out the strawberries and transplanting, and I've got the sprinkler running over time.  I've been shoveling lots of dirt to make new beds, and there isn't a lot of moisture in the dirt..on this land, anyway. Well, I've enjoyed this weather immensely. We dipped into the mid 60s. Some areas near LaGrange actually dipped into the upper 50s! I'll take it for the last week of August. Unfortunately, it is all but over with. The heat and humidity return tomorrow, here at least. The GFS wants to put Columbus in the 94-96 range to close out the week. That's not as much fun as this weather has been.

The low over Florida has my attention. I'm not expecting it to be tropical, but it willl spark off more scattered shower activity for the first weekend of football.

I picked up 0.58 inches of rain tonight from a quick-hitting but quite strong little storm.  The little complex was moving pretty much due south and there appears to be a few more showers behind it.  Maybe I'll pick up another tenth or so overnight.

Yep.  Exactly one more tenth.  So, 0.68 inches of rain overnight total.
