Raleigh NWS has been struggling with POP for several weeks.  It's like a yo-yo.  As an example, last night there was a 70% chance of rain this afternoon.  When I woke up this morning it was down to 20%.  Went out and mowed my(very wet) grass.  When I came back in, the POP for "late afternoon had jumped back up to 60%.  No rain at all yet today.

We picked up 0.17" yesterday. Of more significance is the fact it put us in the record books as the wettest summer. The previous record, 24.68", was set in 2005 (ring a bell???). That makes the 24.70", and counting, we've seen in Columbus even more impressive, IMO, since we haven't had any organized tropical systems.

^^My backyard picked up 0.16. I was at the gas station on the NW side of the town where there was strong winds, intense lightning and blinding downpours. That area saw about 1.5 inches of rain according to radar estimates. Next time I'll wait, but I didn't know the storm would blowup like that.

4.96 for the month. We only have tomorrow and Saturday left to reach monthly average rainfall.
