Brian5671
yeah no kidding lol If there's no traffic... 95 is better... you can haul on that road when things are quiet. which is like never...maybe 2am and then 2 of the 3 lanes are closed for some phantom construction project where you see alot of cones but no one actually doing any work... TalcottWx
Try it at 7:30am!I took Hutchinson to Merritt to 8 to Waterbury then 84 to Hartford i cant stand 95 in traffic.

powderfreak
Driving into the Mass is an embarrassment. Most states have nice welcome centers. We have run down shacks with bathrooms consisting of "your waste is composting in the hole below this non-flushing urinal". I think that's the definition of an outhouse. Oh, and they lock the john doors at 7:00p.m. Welcome to the Bay State. LOL Tell us how you really feel about Mass rest areas, MPM.

amarshall
95 in CT is the WORST...2 lanes. Soccer moms in minvans with coexist stickers doing 52 mph in the left lane. M***hole drivers worst nightmare. They then flash me with their high beams doing 90 in the right lane.
moneypitmike
LOL Tell us how you really feel about Mass rest areas, MPM. LOL. I tell you, they used "stimulus" money to widen Route 2 between Irving and Athol. I use that road when I need to go to Boston. Sure, it's one lane in each direction, but I actually counted how many cars I passed going the other way one day. The number? 24 over 10 miles!!! I'd rather them using my money where it's needed--like a freakin' cup of coffee and a real sh*tter.
WNash
Didn't you have 79 Td in your yard in July? Or are you getting to see what a real 79F at an ASOS feels like? WOTY OVAH

If you put your hair in a ponytail and wear a beret, you'll fit right in. Better yet, do that and drive a prius and add another 10 bumper stickers to the back. (which the truckers think the middle lane is solely theirs) Bad drivers everywhere in every state....oh well, such is life.

That's how I used to get home from school - I-80 to GWB to I-95... ugh. Merritt is too out of the way if you're going to New Haven - it's a pain. powderfreak
Weather-wise, this extended forecast is boring but delightful...no sign of deep, deep summer returning, just low 70s and low dews. Saturday Partly sunny. Highs in the lower 70s. Saturday Night Mostly clear. Lows in the lower 50s. Sunday through Wednesday Partly cloudy. Highs in the lower 70s. Lows in the lower 50s. It does seem like it takes a little longer, but the traffic tie ups are minimal it appears. Although, I may think about 95 if I was travelling late at night. Yeah with no traffic 95 is definitely a time saver. Midday on a weekday is good (summer weekends are hell for all of 95 in CT) or after 8 p.m. on weekdays. On another topic--down the road, two fires at the same abandoned farm house/barn in four days. The barn went Saturday night and the old house went in the wee hours this morning. powderfreak
I can't wait for winter...and actually caring about watching the model runs come out again. I can get a little excited about severe set-ups or east coast hurricane hits, but nothing comes close to sitting and waiting for models to come out when you are inside 120 hours for a winter storm. I was thinking similar things the other day. Nothing like watching a D10 HECS vanish to find another day 10 appear two days later. All the while hoping the minor even slated the next day miraculously over-produces.

CT Rain
Man watching Chronicle makes you realize how awesome New England is. VT is my next state to conquer. I've only been to NH a handful of times... us CT people spend more time in VT... no place better. BTV is one of the few places in New England I'd want to move to. CapturedNature
I have learned to avoid CT driving like the plague. If I'm heading NYC or south of there, I'll go through Greenfield and Pittsfield to the Taconic. I live here and avoid driving on I-84 like the plague. My wife usually drives till were out of the state because of all the out of state folks selfishly clogging up the left lane and the volume. If people would just move right and only pass on the left, we'd all be better off. You may have to take it down a notch but you're not saving that much time. I-84 west of Hartford is the worst. East of Hartford is part of the main path up the east coast (I-95 to I-91 to I-84 to I-90) so there's tons of out of staters trying to speed past the best part of the state. No one comes here, just through it. There's a reason why we're called the quiet corner! Here's another tip for anyone trying to get into Manhattan or avoid I-95 from Westchester to the GWB - Take the Cross County Pkwy to the Saw Mill Pkwy and the Henry Hudson. I've never really run into traffic there getting into Manhattan but you can still run into issues crossing the GWB unless you go way around. I wish they had a high speed ferry from New London to Delaware and avoid the whole darn clogged region.
