Ginx snewx
Wow what a dick!Hope you are having a blast. I love Disney World especially the water parks. In the meantime you would be megapissed up here with folks having sweatshirts and long pants on last night. You can look forward to the pattern change the last week of August with dews but super high temps have to wait until next year. It's been 16 day's since the last 90 plus, can we make 30? Yeah--I hope you're having fun, too. It's been 15 days since the last 80* day here. This is a great time of year--lots of anticipation as the seasons approach their change. - lost over an hour of daylight so far -losing nearly 2.5 minutes of sun/day -dropping .3* of sun angle each day at this point. Good riddance, summer. 66.2/

Typhoon Tip
Hard to tell which will be primary as the loading pattern into N/A as we near mid month, but there are queues for the pattern to flip back to something more akin to last month's warmer pattern. Confidence is low for now.

ORH_wxman
I've actually thought of July as the hottest summer month because NYC has had huge positive departures in 2013, 2012, 2011, and 2010 (20 straight days with 70F minimums in '10 and high of 104F in '11). However we have had some real cool Julys like 2009 and 2000 whereas I think August moderated those months. I remember August '08 was pretty chilly especially later in the month when we had a low of 50F one night. October has had some great cold...the 10/29 snowstorm that dumped 10" here and 25" where I was in NH. That month was above average but Oct '09 was cold. Oct '08 had a big interior snowstorm as well and I think finished below average in many areas. March has actually been colder than many think. March 2013, 2011, 2009, 2008 were all cold here. The torches were epic though: '10 was like +6 and '12 like +8 for NYC. It's really noticeable when March is warm because you see the early emergence of spring. We finally broke the streak of bad Marches as Dobbs Ferry had 15" snow and was -2.5F for temps this year. February was -1.5F so that was rare back to back cold months. I think our biggest torch months recently have been April and November. When was the last below average April for the entire Northeast? 2007? November was a torch in 2006, 2008, 2009, 2010, and 2011. It wasn't until this past Novrmber we got cold. Nov '08 was actually cold. It actually had a really impressive outbreak the week of Thanksgiving that broke some records. nzucker
Nov '08 was actually cold. It actually had a really impressive outbreak the week of Thanksgiving that broke some records.Whoops...I do remember that now. We had a lake-effect event in Middlebury and the snow stayed on the ground for days. I remember Dobbs Ferry struggled to a high of 32F one of those days and it's rare to not get above freezing that early as averages are still low 50s. 08-09 was overall a great winter for Vermont. Lots of cold in January and big December snows on the 19th and 21st. 1/28/09 was a great SW flow event with 13" in Middlebury and 6" in Dobbs. We had a decent 2" event in NYC metro on 2/18/09 before I left to study in South America. March had the 3/2/09 storm which screwed the interior but had 10" in Dobbs. November has definitely trended mild though. This years cold may have been due to Sandy.

It seems that you like heat, based on that emoticon.
CoastalWx
I wouldn't say Fall like conditions will prevail.....just not big heat. The humidity will make its return from time to time.

You walk outside and it's like someone is just smacking you across the face with hot palm fronds. If I had tried to go another mile this morning I would have gone down. Dead serious .
