Snowacane
Had a low cloud deck earlier near Chapel Hill, now the sun has been in and out for over 1/2 hr, radar keeps breaking up as moisture gets close

superjames1992
Flakes are starting to fall here - watch out High Point!! Interesting. Radar shows nothing over Winston-Salem, so maybe I won't miss the band. We shall see. This may be a stupid question, but how do you tell whether a radar is in Clear Air Mode? I was curious whether Blacksburg and Greer radars are in Clear Air Mode right now.
Brick Tamland
This one reminds me of most of the snows in NC last year, where everything went to the south of here or everything to the west disipated before it reached this far east. chapelhillwx
Clouding back over, looks like some nice precip upstream.
bigdog_10_2002
Definitely precip rate driven it seems. RAH highlighted that yesterday. Undoubtedly so. Very light rain falling at the moment and it appears to be getting lighter outside which I assume means some of the heavier bands are heading eastward. DopplerWx
Definitely precip rate driven it seems. RAH highlighted that yesterday. Agreed. Sitting at 34.9 here in hartsville and I'm watching the radar like a hawk. Some heavier precip is coming so I feel confident that if we get under a heavy band that I could get some snow or sleet. Forecasted high of 43 doesn't look good. Woke up at 10am to 36 degrees and now it is down to 34. Hopefully we cxan keep it low and get some snow late tonight,

Gastonwxman
Well here is some HD of the snow in CLT...sorry I was moving around so much it's a DSLR and it was the first time I've used the video function: At least you can see the snowflakes pretty good on it. Best I've got is my Canon Powershot A470, and it takes decent video footage but not as good as what you have.

Brick Tamland
Jan 30 was the one I remember. But a lot of the systems went to our south and down towards Fayetteville.

WeatherNC
Just got back in from some errands in town, started with -IP around noon, but that quickly switched over to -RN. 37/32 at the airport, so yeah, we're done with the frozen here. Thinking about going to Rocky Mount for dinner around 6pm, taking the back roads. Soundings look good there from about 9pm - midnight for dendrites. Not much, but a consolation prize on this one.
