UNCCmetgrad
Snowing decently here with some huge flakes now. Light dusting on the ground and temp slowly down to 34.

snowblzchance in CLT
thanks for the compliments. It was nice while it lasted. So far on the season I've had 2 sleet traces now, 1 freezing rain trace and 2 snow traces. This was enough to dust the mulch beds, and the truck. Just light sleet now. Its over here. Any hope that the energy diving SE pulls some moisture back your way?
Gastonwxman
Beginning to let up some here. Sitting at 34 degrees with a 30 DP. More sleet than snow falling now. According to Jeff Crum here, he believes that the SC low will deepen and push some moisture back across NC for later today. Thoughts on that? weatherheels
Can anyone give me help on where I should drive today. The nephew just came into town yesterday and has never seen snow in person, only tv. I've told him we're out of luck here, but I was looking at that band thats currently rolling over Gastonia, and to me it looks like that band should go somewhere between Burlington and Raleigh. I told him if we were within an hour or so I'd drive to show him some. Would Mebane do the trick, or should I go further east?
chapelhillwx
Maybe Durham?

eyewall
It wouldn't be SOP without having 33F and rain which is what we have right now (according to my cheapo thermometer).
Lookout
Anybody notice that weird finger of moisture on the 12 nam? I think that's the nam's attempt at recognizing this band of precip over north Ga/sc. Up to 0.75 of rain now. I know this isn't the most exciting thing in the world compared to the snow in the carolinas but if someone had told me I would get between 0.75 and an inch today, I would have laughed them out of the room. packbacker
Based on the radar it seems the western edge of the radar is shrinking and Wake County could miss out, the counties east of us could very well, repeat of last year.

FoothillsNC
Sleeting like crazy right now. A few flakes mixing in. its about time. The radar shows that maybe the back edge is going to clip you as long as here, but maybe you'll be in it longer. Gaston is about to be out of it already too. I think my area sort of "lucked out" because the moisture did a little bit of a lurch north, but the dry slot was working in underneath it quickly and already that dry slot is heading toward Meck. County quickly. Either way, its about what we expected here, not much. The temps barely did it for us, just to my south Gaffney had rain from what I understand, just 10 miles south. Hopefully we can get a real gulf low to develop something widespread this Winter. I don't like the looks of the next 10 days, its more of the same clipper /northwest events, which doesnt' do us any favors from CLT -west.

Rankin5150
Belmont, NC: Started sleeting (heavy about 30 mins ago). The sleet started mixiing in with snow. Now predominately snow (nice size flakes). Coming down moderately. Nice dusting. I will take it over nothing! Hope this keeps up (although, like Robert alluded to, it will be a token event). Hope you all get "something" wintry!

NEGa
just looked out and still snowing, large flakes sweet! if anyone is going to get nice flakes like that, and its not me, you would be top on my list apparently i went the wrong way this morning i should have headed south or east (yeah i went out to try and see what i could find when i started at all rain in 35) just saw the radar and realized my error (i headed up towards nc)
WxKnurd
Starting to get a dusting on the cars and mulch here. It would be nice if this little band would continue for about an hour, but I am not counting on it as the radar images I have looked at seem to have a more ENE movement to them rather than a NNE one. Great to look out at though!
NEGa
Anybody notice that weird finger of moisture on the 12 nam? right now the NAM on my hit list big time. I know this isn't the most exciting thing in the world compared to the snow in the carolinas but if someone had told me I would get between 0.75 and an inch today, I would have laughed them out of the room. lol - and wasnt your forecast a 20% chance light rain glad that some who have been missing out got to see some snow today! i wasnt expecting much but thought i would at least see a few flakes today. oh well - as others posted i shouldnt really be surprised what i wouldnt give for this kind of bust when we are all below freezing 20% chance of light precip and get .75"
