cyclone77
Labor Day looks to be the hottest day for northern IL from what I can tell based off the 00z Euro freebie. Maybe Sunday if the front comes through a bit quicker. The ground will be even drier by then as we continue to bake without any rain. Also, the longer these heatwaves go the more they tend to feed on themselves so to speak. Unless the 12z Euro changed I'm thinking we may have a good shot at 100 Sunday, and especially Monday. cyclone77
The string begins, just hit 90. Some sites up in central Minnesota are already in the mid 90s.
Geos
90° forecasted today, Monday and Tuesday then mid 80s after that. Models hinting at lake breeze after Tuesday so that would be nice. Already 88-89° here. If my grid forecast is exactly correct through Saturday the month still ends up a bit below normal. ~around -0.3°.
wisconsinwx
It will be a mighty close call this afternoon for MKE. 87F atm. If we hit an intra-hour 90 today, it will be legit.

It's not that bad with the wind. MKX is advertizing a NE wind on Wednesday... Is LOT contemplating a Heat Advisory at all?

cyclone77
18z 4km NAM is even warmer for Tues... Wow. It was about 4-5 degrees too warm today for the QC, as it had us hitting 95, but that would still mean temps close to 100 Tue.

Geos
NAM hires not as hot for Milwaukee on Tuesday. Shows a wind shift happening in the mid afternoon. Three hourly obs of 89°. Not sure if it hit 90° or not.
cyclone77
Made it to 91 today here and at Sterling. Savanna made 92. MLI a bit cooler at 90. The updated DVN forecast bumped temps down a degree or two for the mon-wed time frame. Seems like one shift will bump temps up a degree or two, and then another shift comes in and reverses it. Back and forth war between the shifts lol.

wisconsinwx
Climo report shows MKE hit 90. Makes sense since there were two consecutive observations of 89F, probably would have been a bump somewhere. Still think those upper 90s/100s everyone is talking up will be difficult/impossible, but that is not to diminish the heat itself.
Geos
Just made it to 90°. Seems the winds kept the atmosphere mixed enough to prevent dewpoints from going crazy.

Upper 90's/low 100's are in the bag for portions of IL/WI for at least one day...and obviously several days in IA/MN.

Yeah, I will say I'm thanking my lucky stars that I'm not in Minneapolis this week. This kind of transient heat wave followed by a minor cool down I can handle. Still in the mid 80s when it is almost midnight, and swamp *** dews? Would not handle unless I had good AC like the central air at my house. Brewers
First day of having to deal with convective debris, hopefully it doesn't prevent a 90. Btw the 00z Euro threw a curve ball for Labor Day weekend.

wisconsinwx
Looks like at the very least cloud debris will be an issue this morning. ETA: pretty noticeable OFB as well, though not seeing any indication of it affecting temps or dewpoints.
