Chicago WX
Days with a maximum/peak 75º+ dewpoint at LAF, since 1973. Total for 2013 through July 20. As typical of LAF, there is some missing data throughout time. Buyer beware.
Chicago WX
Every maximum 75º+ dew point day, since 1973. Anything 84º or higher is to be taken with a great degree of caution. As well, I have stricken from the record any days that had a "unrealistic" max 75º+ dew point. Keep in mind there are missing days...but for this set, there have been 511 days since 1973 with a max dewpoint of 75 or greater.
beavis1729
Nice work Tim. As bad as the summer of 2012 was from a heat standpoint, at least there were only 2 days with a dewpoint of 75F+. I'm surprised that the avg per year is 12.6. Without knowing any better, I would have guessed 6 to 8. Also, one of my good friends got married in the Chicago suburbs on 7/30/1999. That was an unbelievably muggy day...I think the dewpoint at ORD hit the low 80s, with a temp in the mid-upper 90s.

Well, LAF and GUS (Peru/Grissom) are the dew point kings in Indiana...so take the readings at both for whatever they're worth. 7/30/1999 had a peak dew point of 82º at ORD at 9:00am...and 100º/69º from 3:00-4:00pm. LAF had 99º/79º from 2:00-4:00pm, for a HI of 118º.
