Rut roh some daily low maxes have a shot at being broke, nice pattern change, wonder if this is the lead story on every media outlet, bet not.

BDR will crush it...temps have  gone nowhere today---holding at 62 at BDR although the midnight reading of 67 is the actual high

DUE TO THE THREAT OF CWD NEXT WEEK FOR THE TROPICAL

SYSTEM IN THE ATLANTIC, NCEP/NCO WILL "GO LIVE" ON

THE NEW WCOSS SUPERCOMPUTERS TODAY, THURSDAY 7/25.

THE PRODUCTION SUITE ON WCOSS SYSTEM TIDE WILL BEGIN

SENDING OUT THE OFFICIAL OPERATIONAL PRODUCTS AT

ROUGHLY 1230Z. DATA DISSEMINATION FROM THE CURRENT

CCS SUPERCOMPUTER WILL CEASE AT THAT POINT, ALTHOUGH A

FEW MODELS WILL CONTINUE TO COME FROM THE CCS AS THEY

BLEED OFF OVER THE FIRST FEW HOURS AFTER THE SWITCH

TO WCOSS SYSTEM TIDE.

IN REFERENCE TO THE WCOSS GOING LIVE:

NCEP RECENTLY DISCOVERED THAT MODIFICATIONS MADE TO

THE WCOSS NAM LAND-SURFACE MODEL INADVERTENTLY CREATED

A NEAR-SURFACE COOL/MOIST BIAS OVER URBAN AREAS. THE

BIASES WILL BE MOST PRONOUNCED DURING HEAT WAVE/HIGH

HUMIDITY EVENTS AND ARE ISOLATED TO THE LARGEST

METROPOLITAN AREAS. A FIX FOR THE PROBLEM HAS BEEN

IDENTIFIED AND WILL BE IMPLEMENTED INTO THE NAM SOMETIME

IN THE NEXT 7-10 DAYS. SORRY FOR THE INCONVENIENCE..

Someone needs to bring a thermometer next to SLK airport to verify some of these lows. ;)

 

It truly is the West Chesterfield of Upstate New York.

 

The geography of that area makes sense... 1,600ft is like the lowest elevation around and it sits in like a lake/swamp area (like most "low elevations" of the Adirondacks).  Even the town of Lake Placid in the valley isn't that low (they are like 1,900ft)... but its just mind boggling to think of the absolute valley bottom as being still 1,600ft high surrounded by 5,000ft peaks, lol.
