CoastalWx
I'm really missing the heat and humidity. It's kind if upsetting lol. No wonder Kev doesn't post anymore. This weather is depressing. Embrace it. Time to move on from tracking faux severe.

powderfreak
What a call by Ginxy on this pattern change...especially when the hype earlier in this thread was so adamant about it not being a pattern change.
CoastalWx
It's broken. Models did a good job indicating more troughing over the east. Steve stuck to his guts so good for him. I think some just assumed the pattern would repeat since it was so stubborn, but to be honest....it was a real anomalous pattern. Not easy to have a ridge retro west and northwest and park over NY State while TX has record cold. Tough to repeat that. We'll have bouts of warmth and humidity, but the worst is likely done. ORH_wxman
The ridge looks like it tries to flex again in the ATL again after 8/10...but its been pushed further out in time than previously advertised. The long range likes the idea of western ridging which keeps us in the longwave trough to its east.

The long range likes the idea of western ridging which keeps us in the longwave trough to its east. With the exception of tonight, this is tough time to be wanting high dewpoints. The pattern looks to continue to bring troughiness to the east which is not conducive to any high heat and humidity. August might come in below normal... An another note, BDL should put up another negative departure day today and lower their monthly average but I think they are going to make the record for the warmest July on record. However, it's going to do so with a lower average high temperature than the previous three record July's.

CapturedNature
What is BDLs current avg temp vs the record? The record is 77.1° and their current monthly average is 78.7. Today will probably knock another 2-3 tenths off of that.

Yeah, even figuring we knock a few tenths off each day to end the month, I'm guessing we'll finish about 77.5 or so.

moneypitmike
I know, brutally boring. I'm heading on vacation to the Cape 8/10-8/17 - wish the weather would be this nice. I'll be there the same time--West Falmouth. Where are you headed?

Dude, I went whale watching the day before Hurricane Bob. The fooking swells were huge. They had a 5 gallon tub of dramamine...I swear. People were puking off the ship. People were puking off the ship. It was awful. We were on a 60 ft boat this weekend and I was totally fine Saturday and sleeping Saturday night. By Sunday morning we went out of the bay toward Newport and the swells picked up a bit and I literally threw up for 3 hours. I think the sun on Saturday and drinking during the day/night probably made everything worse - but each time the boat went up and down I stuck my head in a garbage bag. Still feel sort of wiped out - I think I'm just dehydrated.

I had literally the same experience a couple years ago...was out on a boat my girlfriend's folks owned off Newport (watching the Newport-Bermuda race) and I was totally fine for like 36 hours. But then the drinking and spending all day in the sun apparently caught up with me the next day as I was sea sick all day long. Every little bob and weave of the boat had me leaning over the railing. After yesterday's -2° departure, they are now at 78.4° for the month, down from yesterday's 78.7. Good guess on the temp....let's see how it works out but you're probably close! With two days left, it appears that the record will be closer to 78 degrees, maybe 77.9º.
