July high heat WX disco

I wouldn't want to work outside in this weather, but I do love arriving home after work and cracking a cold one on the porch and letting myself absorb the heat like a lizard for a while....half of its mental I think.  I haven't used AC this whole week and it hasn't been THAT bad, but being over 1,100' certainly helps, I do kind of feel bad for the flatlanders in the city

There is not a person in the NE who is not looking forward to shutting off the AC, opening the windows and letting the cooler fresh air into the house. fungal infections on plants, animals and humans are a result of this crap. I say good riddance.

No A/C at all, just a small fan and dehumidifier, and work in the 90+ heat.  And no, not looking forward to cool air...that's for September.

So all plants and animals down south have fungal infections?

With your love of summer weather, you should get a hardy palm tree and plant it next to your house.  If you wrap it in bubble wrap and Christmas lights, they can survive up here:

I've seen 7-10' ones sell for about $1000.

Had intensions of traveling to the beach today and awoke unable to move. Dammed discs, oh well. Anyone who has a back problem in the past can relate, now 3X that in pain 24/7 even after meds.

Wondering how many make it to the Century club? I reached 90F a little after 9am. I'm going to be miffed if my PWS hits like 99.9F

Going to be nice getting back to normal next week and possible beyond.

BOX is doing the same for the CT River Valley.  CEF, BDL & HFD all have 100 for a forecasted high.  PnC has me getting to 98° at my house.  We'll see how that does considering I topped out at 90° yesterday.

What did you hit on 7/22/11? I'd probably take that and subtract a few degrees given the difference in mid-level temps.

Good call...I was 96° that day.  Looking back, I noted the high dp's (mid-upper 70s) in the AM and that they dropped during the day.  Valley locations over 100 that day too.

88/76

Down in NYC today at the doctors just off Central Park on 86th, talk about oppressive right now, I don't know how people can live here, you can jut feel the crap air every time you breath in

LOL try riding the subway. 90/75 will feel cool after you spend a little time below ground this time of year.

OKX and CHH soundings 20.8 and 19.8C respectively at 850.

We'll see if that is enough for record highs today...records for 7/19:

BOS: 98F (1977 & 1982)

ORH: 95F (1991)

BDL: 100F (1991)

PVD: 100F (1977)

BOS is probably the most vulnerable. Normally I would think the other 3 might be just out of reach with 850 temps of +20-21, but we have a decent start (might be worth a degree or so) and downsloping wind. So I think its possible they could be. ORH is probably the toughest one to reach.

Yeah the downslope component is definitely going to help today. BDL should manage 98 I think.

I'm not shutting off the ac... ever. Cool in summer, heat in winter...nothing in windows...those days ended this week.

Blistering in and around Boston.that sucks, fresh air is much better for your health than reconditioned air

I breath it all the time....don't need it while enclosed inside because it doesn't exist. I'll open the windows on Sunday if applicable but fresh air in ones house with construction today is kind of an oxoron. I filter my air due to pets etc adding tons of allergens to the house and allergic inhabitants ironically other than I (mine are outdoor allergens lol).

Hoping for 100.

In the 30 years I've lived around here I've come to find a kind of rule of thumb on big heat is "90 by 9"  ...AM of course.  Not absolute of course, but more so than not.
