He's like a little kid getting his lollipop stolen from him if you even mention the possibility of weather he doesn't like. Like in the winter when the torch comes after a long period of snow/cold its "congrats to those who want warmth, everyone's snow will be gone including MRG and dendrite."

We have to bump this post at the right time during the winter......home run!

I think next Thursday and Friday post rainstorm are pretty warm then another frontal passages brings in some more refreshing air, air mass changes seem to be the big change in the upcoming period with no one from the Govt telling you its hot for a while.

I'm just glad to see rain threats back on the table.  I will likely water this weekend, unless I know the storms will pan out imby.  Just amazed it's past mid-July and most lawns still look like it's early June.

My co-worker just said that 45 of the 50 states hit 90F yesterday. Never thought I would see that.

The last time 45 of 50 states did that was 7/17/2010 (perhaps one has occurred since then that I am not accounting for?). 40 states at or above 90 happens pretty regularly, but having at least 45 states do it has happened 7 times since 2001. They seem to occur in clusters. For example, in 2006 July 16-17, and in 2001 August 6-8. 48 states is the most ever and that has happened a couple times on 8/7/2001 and 7/16/1977.

Those are interesting stats. Where do you get those from? Unless there's an article out there that I haven't seen...

Kind of what I thought, impressive (especially to the general public) but far from unheard of. I'd guess that 30-35 states have locations where the avg high temp is 90+ this time of year.

Rainman?

Honestly sometimes the short time frame reply is impressive
