July high heat WX disco

DEWPOINTS WILL REMAIN IN THE UPPER 60S AND LOWER 70S THIS
AFTERNOON. RESULTING HEAT INDICES WILL RANGE FROM THE MID 90S TO
AROUND 100...WITH THE HIGHEST VALUES IN THE CT VALLEY AND BOSTON
SUBURBS. HEAT ADVISORY CONTINUES FOR ALL LOCATIONS NORTH OF THE
CAPE COD CANAL. IT MAY NOT VERIFY IN SOME SPOTS SUCH AS THE
WORCESTER HILLS AND MONADNOCKS...BUT MOST PLACES WILL EITHER EQUAL
THE CRITERIA OR COME CLOSE ENOUGH TO FEEL THAT WAY.

Yeah it seems those headlines have been more for awareness (not that anyone needed someone to tell them it's been hot and will be for a few more days) than for anything else.

I feel like most heat advisories fall short in New England except maybe for like record high type days.

Is NCDC the best place to sort out things like number of 90 degree days at a certain station during a certain year? Is there a way to select what you are looking for in some sort of database? Looking for climate data is like pulling teeth sometimes.

Download in csv format and play around with R

I know, it really is... You just lose patience and throw your hands.  You go to some of those sites and it's, "Click here for the data you are looking for"; so you click it, and it isn't the data you are looking for.  ad nauseam.  Instead, you get some crowing egg-head writing an essay about what the data means, and their method of categorizing.  Links to another link to nth link, JUST GIVE US THE NUMBERS ALREADY.

It does seem that way.  I wonder if internally they have a different sort of policy for heat criteria.   By contrast, I'm pretty sure in winter-time they are stricter with snow totaling and what kind of notification trigger to pull -- doesn't seem the carry as rigid a standard with heat.

It's pretty bad yeah...but I think it's gotten a little bit better in the last year. At least a bit more intuitive

Yeah I like how they revamped storm data too and the temp trendlines that you can weenie out on. I might be new to the game, but it looked easier to get than a few years ago.

Its north of me and temp is 88.0 and dew is 76

Right, hence why your dew went up. Your temp probably didn't change much since you are far enough north to be away from marine influence. Same boundary went through Logan and boosted their dew. Happens frequently.

Man that Mariano 8 th inning was special last night, I don't care who you are or what team you like. That brings chills to any sports fan. What a blessing to watch him all these years.

I still wonder if a storm doesn't fire tonight behind this dew boundary

Have to agree, it's hard not to be a fan of his, even for a Sox diehard.

I have the utmost respect for Mariano... such a great guy and class act.

You're right. We can thank him for our World Series in 2004.

It's like in April/May when everyone has 75/30 while those east of the sea breeze boundary are 60/50.
