Chicago WX
Short notice, but it's been awhile since we've done a contest. With this week looking to be the hottest of the season so far, I thought I'd thrown one out there. Got the format idea from the MA forum. Pretty simple...for each site, you pick the highest max, lowest max, highest min, and lowest min temperatures in the July 15-19 period...plus the max and min temp on July 19. Scoring will be total departures...lowest or closest wins. Deadline is 11:00pm central/12:00am eastern tonight. Stebo
A couple of busts for highest mins for DTW already with respect to today, unless DTW somehow ends up below 75 in the next 16 1/2 hours, which isn't likely unless an isolated storm rolls over the airport and rains itself out, the low will be 75 for the day. Currently the temp is already up to 78 as well so the rise has started to occur.
Stebo
Double bonus question should have been, "How many times will we be reminded that it is cool on the lakeshore by Alek?" I will go with 57.

Stebo
90/77 thus far today, which if holds will bust most for the DTW max low temperature. Currently 82/76 so I do not expect much of a drop between now and midnight if at all.

Chicago Storm
I don't understand how if the temp at 12am was 75F how is the low 77? It was 75 at 11:53...not 12. That doesn't matter though, as the "day" begins at 6z.
Trent
I don't understand how if the temp at 12am was 75F how is the low 77? We are on daylight saving time right now. Therefore the day starts at 1 am for weather records purposes (which is actually 12 midnight non daylight saving time) This way all weather records are standardized to the same day, regardless of whether this county observes DST, or when the government decides to push up or move back DST. Remember, the "day" doesn't actually change, just the time on the clock.

Stebo
I am going to bust on the Friday calls, but Friday could help me nail some of the higher temperature calls, that is usually how it goes with frontal passages you are trying to project 5-6 days in advance.
