Took a trip down to Asheville, NC over the July 4th weekend

Wytheville, VA: To see the worlds second largest pencil. It Is right off I 81-77 so not far out of the way to check it out and say Ive been there lol

Nice photos, Dave. You'd think for the amount of time I've lived in SW VA I would have visited Wytheville.. Never have, but it looks like a neat place. Glad to see you stopped by the Star City, though.  :D

 

Thanks. I love love Southwest Virginia. It is so gorgeous down there.  I hear ya on the not visiting places close by. I grew up in NW NJ and never been to Liberty Island and it was an hour away from me, LOL. If you go to Wytheville, go to Skeeter's for lunch. You wont dissapointed Im told.  It was a neat town though, I love visiting some of these small Appalachian towns, you can find some neat stuff in them every so often. :)
