CT Rain

Congrats on the siting!  I took a ride over to Union & Woodstock to see if the earlier warned cell had verified but didn't see anything, at least where I went and took several roads that it would have passed.

No calls for the Fire Dept's in Woodstock or Thompson from it, maybe any damage isolated to Bigelow Hollow?  Heard Dudley Ma FD out with a few houses hit by lightning.

I've been legit waiting my whole life to see a TOR. And to actually have it happen 1/4 mile from my house is just unreal. I was watching it on radar and it tightened up right overhead. It got super black outside but wasn't raining at the time. The sky to the SW was bright and almost sunny. I still can't believe it

There was barely any rotation. It may have been real low level. Just a fluke spin up from some sort of localized thing. It was a legit meso up near Union. But congrats though. You always wanted one.

So did you drive over after assuming it was a tornado?

Can you post the radar from when it would have been OTG? I thought it tightened up literally right overhead and that's when I ran outside

This ios exactly what the sky looked like on the first one that rolled thru here Very black, but very bright to the sw. not a green tint like you sometimes hear folks say.

The thing that really sticks out for me is the leaves and debris I saw swirling around up about 100 feet and higher off the ground..There was stuff flying all around up there

I went through there and saw nothing.  I took 190 to 171 and the 197 across Woodstock.

I really thought that I would see some tree damage up there based on the signature but didn't see anything.

Maybe Radarman can post it when he sees this.

Could def hear it too. i wouldn't call it freight train sound,,but certainly a loud roar thru the trees

Congrats Kev, you've had a hell of a run the past 2 years.

If nobody posts it in the meantime I'll dig up the radar shot in the morning when I'm back in the office.

I live right near the intersection of 171 & 198. I was not home at the time, but am home again and noticed not even a leaf in the road.
