Ridge Builds In - Humidity Sticks Around - Wx Disc

CT Rain

Doubtful it's widespread... I like the NE Mass through Monadnock area for this setup but still a lot of uncertainty.

I also don't get where these mid 80s and sunny weekend forecasts are coming from.

would think that in areas where it's relatively dry-it's hazy sun and sticky-maybe 80 with variable clouds?

not sticky thankfully. Deep closed low overhead will probably result in a lot of cu/stratocu and the possibility of widespread shows if things come together.

Yup.  Stupid DMA Zones.  Glad I cut the lawn last night.  Amazing it's mid-July and it looks like it's still early June.  I've only had to water it twice in the past couple weeks.

You should consider an external antenna.  I have the same problem working in Springfield but I'm only allowed CT TV stations.  Growing up everyone watched the Springfield channels but with the advent of cable it forced everyone to watch whatever market you lived in even if you could receive the signals over the air.  I get around that by using an antenna and now I have more choices than before.  I get channels from Hartford, Springfield, Providence and Boston - occasionally I'll get a couple from Albany too.  I would think with a small antenna that you'd get both Boston and Providence channels, maybe even some Hartford channels.

HD signal is also much better over the air than it is on cable.

I got an HD antenna for the week we did not have cable....and also figure it may be used for my future mantown in the basement. Anyways, get the one that is amplified..it's basically a plug in feature that amplifies the signal. Got it at Radioshack for 35 bucks. Taunton is farther away from the antennas in Needham so not sure how the signal is there, but it should work I would imagine.

No joke, a couple years ago I built an HD antenna from a couple pieces of 2x4 and some bent copper wire.  I saw the directions in a Popular Mechanics magazine.  I wanted to see if it worked.  The only thing I had to buy was the rf adapter from radio shack for $3 to allow me to connect RG6 cable to the "antenna".  I put it in my attic and picked up all the Providence and Boston HD network channels and a few weird PBS and music channels.  Quality was amazing, better than cable.

Bob, I actually still have it...You want it?

it's still responsible for that s/w getting stuck overhead

Yeah, but you would think having it further south would be worse. Well we'll see I guess. I hope Sunday isn't as bad as shown. I guess having the ridge a little stronger is just enough to do the trick.

I'll pass.  I don't watch much local news or TV and I can get all the major shows out of PVD when I need to.

Unlike the recent transition between ridge episodes ... this time the GFS wants to actually get the front off-shore for a time.  Then a closed llv circulation forms on the boundary S of LI, and we actually get a day or two of the east schits if that happens.  That's all prior to the U/A dissolving into a shear axis and the front/low washing out.    Leaving us unbearably humid beyond about D5, no doubt!

The operational Euro from 00z did something it almost never does.  It put out a D10 chart that doesn't show mad denting of the ridge and SE Canadian height falls.  In fact, it has a tongue of 850s nearing 20C point at NE out of the GL.  We'll see.

We may be playing with the heat dome. In that case, at least SVR chances increase with H7 continental lapse rates possibly moving in.

there's got to a huge plummet in local news rating over the last 20 yrs.  So many other options.  Can't remember the last time I watched a local newscast from start to finish for 30 minutes...
