CoastalWx
I thought today was widespread everywhere but just severe threat farther NE. Did you mean extend severe threat SW? The problem is that there is drier air aloft on the OKX and ALY soundings. That's an inhibitor for deeper convection. Best moisture and trigger is NE, although I see some models bring a line down towards you later this aftn. There is the chance better mid level moisture moves in thuis aftn, but indices like K-Index hint you may be battling drier air aloft and lack of shear as Ryan mentioned. CT Rain
I'd take a break from the board until later spring. Another reason to hope for a DC winter on Mount Tolland.

CoastalWx
OKX's 12z sounding looks pretty decent for today. Yeah it's ok. It was drier compared to Chatham and GYX. Albany sounding was meh, but I think that will improve today out there.

So to be sure, that was a hot one. Was back here on the 5th. Very comfortable in the shade with a nice nw breeze. It def has not been incredibly hot. Just the dews have been gross... at least it got to 67F here last night
CoastalWx
That ULL almost has a deformation feature/cold front to the north...that's the feature models fire storms on and sag it south from NY state into CT very late day.

Some dry may not be terrible for severe chances to be honest. Better than moist adiabatic the whole way. But yeah it's an somewhat weird setup. Yeah you're probably right. At least it can increase downdraft potential and steepen rates a bit. Sort of weird in that there are mixed signals from SW-NE, but I think around this area should be good to go for some thunder.

Brian5671
He's a constant troller. You would be done with him if we had a torch winter and he's posting pics of middle aged women on the beach and his grass greening in January. One of my favorite LL trolls was a picture of him tilling the soil or something in Mid January during the non winter of 11-12...folks here were just ready to explode that winter and that put some over the edge. - another funny element from that winter was Roger smith's November thread on a blowtorch winter and Kev put the LMAO smiley at the end of the post and then about 3 month later someone bumped it and said "Bet you're not laughing now"

CoastalWx
What??? You do it all the time I do it to you because you deserve it most of the time. But, if someone lays out thoughts that make sense about a certain long range forecast...find me a time where I put some sort of LOL icon after it...especially something like a winter forecast where nobody has high confidence. ORH_wxman
A sick part of me almost wishes to see the torch twins fight over a mild winter in CT. Best friends in summer but not in winter, lol. Kevin will start posting "deep winter sets in by mid November"...or Thanksgiving. He generally thinks climo is about 10F warmer than it is in summer and 10F colder than it is in winter .
