There is a mini convergence zone from south coast seabreeze and also outflow from Boston harbor that fires storms just south of the city. Also in the winter you do not have UHI and snowstorms are on par with BOS.

On average I'll still take my local. More often this area has more WSW and Severe threats. No matter, didn't mean to divert thread, you're right. Just something to watch as time goes by.

I'm not talking about Arlington though. They are obviously better in winter

I doubt large hailers with little shear. But I could certainly see a few storms being prolific 1/4-1/2 inch hail producers.

These cold pools always seem to do a bit more than we expect, especially with sufficient instability.  Not saying we will lots of 1''+ hail reports but I think we could see a couple.  I haven't look all that much though at tomorrow

That is pretty damn close to where I live.  It got gusty here but the core just missed me by like 1/2 mile

Yeah I wouldn't call for golf balls but dews hear 72 and -10C at 500 certainly could mean hail.

It's just so hard to get large hail with such warm temps aloft. You have a warm layer nearly 15,000 feet deep and it's just moist throughout. So you don't even get the evaporational cooling assist to keep hailstones from melting as they fall.
