July. High summer 2013-a humid and warm start. Is big heat lurking? Banter ok here.

Coastal sea breeze will spare most of the population alone. Figure the city of Boston within 5 miles of coast will be influence by relief in many an afternoon this week.

IMBY verifying for sometimes SW CT or other times ORH to suit ones contention just doesn't cut it in the hype dept.

It turns out those upper 70 dew-points at GON (past week or so) may very well be erroneous.

The dew point sensor at Groton is malfunctioning, causing the dew point to be too high. Techs are working to resolve the issue. #ctwx

I was just about to mention something about that. Wind direction goes from south to north last hour and no drop in dew point to go along with the spike in temp? Plus GON is well above WST and UUU. I'd expect a 78 dew from a contaminated home sensor.

Kevin swapped his dew point sensor with KGON's.

lol, yeah real hard to get that at an official station and have it be legit.

I had been suspicious given that the sensor seemed pegged at 77-78 when everywhere else has had at least some variance. This morning's no change with a change in wind direction was the clincher for me though especially when looking at the stations around them. Prolonged exposure to high humidity especially near salt water can cause trouble for those humidity sensors which is why some of them come with a heating element to periodically burn off any sensor contaminants.

Last time we checked no one lives on tarmacs

You may have to deal with the fact that these are our official stations and that's how we monitor weather conditions historically...at the various ASOS stations.

Forecasts are made based on the conditions at these stations. There's a reason why this is the data going into weather models and not the stuff from your backyard weather station that has an error of up to 3 degrees.
