July. High summer 2013-a humid and warm start. Is big heat lurking? Banter ok here.

Youve been in the it hasn't been too hot or humid bandwagon and only fans have been needed, so I thought maybe you were calling a major pattern change too?

Believe it or not, there are folks who don't always forecast the type of weather they desire.

It hasn't been all that hot, too. I'll stand by Dendrite on that one...it has been humid, but afternoon highs were higher last July so far, even though the monthly average is higher this year due to mins.

I don't get where this hottest July stuff is coming from.

Hot doesn't mean daytime highs. We are talking hottest month ever

Kev its like bangin ur head against a wall, the majority dont like heat, if it doesnt break a record the way they like, it doesnt count.

Bottom line is we have had record or near record continuous dews for many, when measured from one stand point or another, overnites have resembled ORL . How often can new englanders say that? BDL , HFD ,IJD PVD and TAN OWD have all had (by friday) 30 nites of swamp ass like we live in disney world, very very rare

We've set records this summer for most humid and warmest stretch of overnight lows... it just hasn't been that hot during the day though.

When u factor in heat index and how its felt, its been oppressive during most afternoons between s coast and pike (and a tad north) its not like days are 84/57 and beautiful , how "non sultry" and comfy is 80's with dews 69-74

lol picks.... We have all noted the record stretch of high dews and high minimums, but do you really think of the hottest month on record in the hottest time of year, will have high temps that are run-of-the-mill?

If we are going to set the hottest month record, bring the 100 degree days. Not like highs of 82F and lows of 74F.

It isn't bootleg that the morning mins are yielding to the well above-average daily departures...maybe up in the higher terrain or up in northern New England or along the coast it may be more comfortable but it's been downright hot, especially when you factor in the humidity.  Typically we don't really see these sort of dews until later in the summer.  Also, SST's across Long Island are well above normal and are as warm as they are for a reason...b/c it's been so hot out.

If this were winter and we had daily departures well below-normal, nobody would be calling that bootleg.

77.2. 1994 was 77.1

http://ryanhanrahan.com/2010/08/01/its-official-july-2010-tied-for-warmest-on-record/

The old record of 77.1º set in 1994 has been tied. In fact the unofficial average for this month is 77.13 degrees (the hundredths place isn’t significant) which is only 0.02 away from breaking the record outright.

Ryan Hanrahan on August 1, 2010 at 11:11 pmsaid:

Though the National Weather Service said in their forecast discussion that the record was broken, that is incorrect. I called and spoke to the NWS and they said someone likely made an error when calculating the averages. The record was in fact tied.

Meh give me 1975 when it was 100 to the beaches and midnight temps in the upper 80s and the Governor ordered mandatory opening of all beaches. Total meh

I think if you asked people if this was the hottest month ever (and I assume you mean recorded because we don't know all of history here), most people would say no.  I've heard countless times that temps haven't been too bad but it's just been too humid.  I call that a bootleg record.  Besides, it's only been a few weeks, not months.

In terms of high temps, I'm just about right on normal for the first 13 days of the month.

Agreed!
