Other than the fact that the farmers gotta be happy about rain at the end of June and in early July, IMBY totals are less-than-spectacular for past 3 days, given the flash flood advisories and potential:

6/30 = 0.67"

7/01 = 0.17"

7/02 = 0.02"

7/03 = it was raining at 5am, will take readings after work.

We may have had .2" since Friday.  Not that I'm really complaining, since we got almost 3" of rain that day.  It raining this morning, however.

Sure...areas east fo the cities have gotten good rains during this time, but the areawide flash flood watches that have been going on for days *may* have been a bit much.

I thought it might be special that the temp may not rise above 84° in the first three days of July.  I was partially right, since the DCA move it has only happened three times.  However, two of those have been in the last 6 years (2007, 2009), and they at least had lows in the mid-60s instead of these tropical lows.

I'm in need of the boards opinion and I know this is OT, but it's weather related......

I'm in a town home and neither of my immediate neighbors have down spout extensions taking the water away from their houses. I do for both front and back. When the water runs down the spout for the neighbors, it just pools on the ground. The locations of their spouts are very close to mine. Would you a) approach them about installing their own or B) do it for them (keeping in mind that extensions are not terribly expensive. I just want the water away from my house). And if A is the approach, do you it do anyway if they do not?

I guess you've got water coming in your basement?  But I'd approach them with, "Hey, would you mind if I ..."

Absolutely blitzed this morning. SW stuff looks HEAVY and the trajectory looks to bullseye my backyard. FF warnings may need to be issued.

Yesterday the FF warnings were unnecessary, now today they are needed.

You should tell them your concerns and then explain to them the very real trouble that that water can cause. Many people just simply aren't aware of the risks. I ran mine underground and they all empty at least 20 feet away from the house.

I live in a townhome as well. I have them on my front and back also. I approached my neighbor about tying his into a central extension form my house and he was fine with it. I have yet to do it but plan to soon. A lot of other owners in my community have done this as well.

Maybe they are not aware of the problems that can happen.
