Finished with a storm total of 4.87" here.  Just missed the 5" mark.  There is a new stream in my yard that did not exist when I went to bed last night.

Just got to the office - was going to work from home, but I have no power and no land line working at home.  Of course, our land lines go out every time it rains.  Thank you, Verizon.

Several bridges flooded around Manassas/Catharpin near my house (Bull Run bridges).

The retention pond behind Dulles on 606 was flooded all the way up to the road.  I have never seen it that high.

There was a tractor trailer flipped over on the Dulles Access Road when I drove by - just inside the last entry point off the toll road - and the access road is now backed up like 8 miles.  I am sure there are lots of angry people in that traffic jam.

The only other time I've seen that was after the June 2006 rains. Once the water receded, you could see the high water mark up in the trees, and it was probably 6-8 feet above it's usual level.

What an odd system with the retrograding 500 low and massive moisture. Just waiting for the pivot now.

Odd but interesting....wondering now if the pivot will get back far enough west to put me back in moderate rain...so far 0.33 today.  It didn't start raining until close to 4am.

6 inches of water on the ground in Millville, DE. Dude just kayaked down the road.

Yes, it's flooded over here.  We were camping at Trap Pond state park.  Our campsite flooded badly so we brought the RV home.  My  hubby took a photo of the campsite if I can get it on here I will.

It's been a weird summer.  Last weekend, we had the high retrograding from the EAST to dry us out temporarily.  Now this.  Would be nice to get back into a more progressive flow, with stuff going west to east like normal.

If we moved north our snow chances might get better in the winter

So a question... we had the Bermuda high retrograding on shore from the Atlantic last weekend (before being pushed back out to the east).  Now, we have an upper low retrograding west through the midwest and eventually to the great plains, and high pressure off shore also retrograding west.  Why?  I'm interested in the meteorological reasons as to why this is happening now.
