smokeybandit
Strange (from a layman's perspective) watching a system move to the north but watching a heavy thunderstorm move to the east in that system
H2O
2.05" overnight. Had numerous downpours and thunder. If it can wake me up then it has to be dumping.
BlizzardNole
Even here is the desert zone we got 0.5" and maybe a little more coming. I am happy because I thought I was going to have to water everything this morning.
WVclimo
15 of the last 17 (COOP) days I've had measurable rain. 0.27" overnight. 2.05" now for July.
mappy
Not much going on up in Parkton, but pouring on the drive into work, raining pretty good in the city right now
smokeybandit
A pleasant 65 degrees out there. How refreshing.
needbiggerboat
Pretty good rainfall event here since last night. Didn't measure, but would assume a bit more here than the IAD totals.
mattie g
Local PWSs showing around 2.5" overnight, with most of that coming between 2:00 and 4:00. Plenty of lightning and thunder to go with it, too. Dog was unhappy, baby didn't care. "Congrats" to those who got bulls-eyed last night. Better you than me. I saw upwards of 10" in 12 hours with Lee (and around 7" in a few hours in the evening), and I'd prefer not to have something like that happen again. BlizzardNole
One last slug looking like it's trying to get together -- would be nice to end up with 0.75" but that might be pushing my luck. Before today, just had 0.55 for July, and 1.05" since June 13 made up by several light events. It makes for a dreary day but we needed this bad here. MN Transplant
Usually when I leave town the interesting weather waits for a couple of days (commutageddon, Irene, derecho). This time it was about 4 hours. Pretty soon the NWS will be able to issue warnings based on my flight departure time. At least it was only 1.5" on my station. MN Transplant
On my phone - does anything else even remotely support the 100 degrees that the 06z GFS is throwing out for next week?
H2O
On my phone - does anything else even remotely support the 100 degrees that the 06z GFS is throwing out for next week? Euro was warm if not hot as well so there is some. Could be short lived if that trough develops by next fri.
Deck Pic
On my phone - does anything else even remotely support the 100 degrees that the 06z GFS is throwing out for next week? yes..ENS support it and Euro supports it to a lesser extent....Wed-Fri looks like the target period, though the GFS says we torch starting Monday......we are going to get hot... GFS starting Monday is like 94, 94, 98, 97, 97 Euro is something like 89, 89, 93, 95, 95 ENS is 96, 93, 97, 97,

NCWX
Here in Stanley we just got power back, 4.9 inches of rain since midnight. Creek behind the house is raging, and we have minor yard flooding.
FrederickWX
No drought issues this summer! Frankly, I wouldn't mind several weeks of dry weather and sunshine. Things need to dry out a bit.
needbiggerboat
Out you way your screen name would be handy this morning No kidding. Although my benchmark is 15+ inches over 4 days in Buxton, NC...Nov 1985. Needed either a boat or SUV with big tires.
mattskiva
Finished with a storm total of 4.87" here. Just missed the 5" mark. There is a new stream in my yard that did not exist when I went to bed last night.

Needed either a boat or SUV with big tires. 2 feet of water in the road will float an suv and if the water is moving can float you into a stream where the SUV can flip. Lots of drownings occur because people thin SUVs are safer to drive than cars in floods. Hate to be preaching but......stick with the boat. Plus you can fish from a boat. mitchnick
Only 0.3" IMBY...I feel cheated. I would too if it wasn't for the thunder from the storms to my south constantly waking me up all night
clueless
Another non-event in Leesburg. Heard the storms all night, though. Spent the day yesterday trimming and pruning in that lovely humidity. So I am counting today as a 10 despite the rain.
PhineasC
Nice soaking rain here. Nothing too heavy which is fine by me. I hate the extended downpours. That's what causes floods. Moderate rain all day is no problem.
Mrs.J
On 70 heading West to OH this morning. Starting to drive out of the rain. That lightning this morning though was eye popping. Woke me up with an illuminated cat staring at me on the bed side table.

Even if it does by a few degrees, unless it becomes super dry the next few days its going to be super humid with all the moisture around... so instead of 95/75... it will be 92/

Those were notably absent in the heat waves of the past two summers.
