It looks like it builds in further south though. That'll spare us from the core of the heat.

Probably just days of upper 80's to low 90's  when we warm up again for the last few days of July instead of the big heat of this week.

I just got back from Florida this afternoon...You can't say I brought the heat with me because it was cooler down there...I saw some big time thunder storms when I was there...NYC could end up with another top ten hottest July if this keeps up...

80 degree or higher Julys have been the rule rather than the exception since 2006. Impressive run for LGA where the

July mean is 77.4. We have gone higher than the DCA July mean of 79.8 degrees 6 out of the last 8 years.

Friday looks like the hottest feeling day of the heat wave so far with heat index values

of 105 or greater possible with dewpoints above 70 and highs in the mid to upper 90's.

We lucked out somewhat yesterday with a northerly wind delivering drier air, but the southerly and SW winds starting today will ratchet the humidity up. Even though the shorelines won't be as hot, the humidity will make up for it. And the city/NE NJ will be a sauna. The weekend can't come soon enough.

Last night's 0z euro was not as impressive as previous runs for the "cool down".

The core of the "colder" air remained north of our area.

Hopefully, it was just a blip run and it starts showing it again in future runs.

I believe Long Beach made it to 97 on the hot offshore flow yesterday. Just like Gilgo, Long Beach can rival or beat JFK

by a degree on hot  north wind. I can't wait until the first stretch of  new boardwalk opens in the coming weeks.

I got down on Monday, but they still had more work to do from LB to Laurelton. I went back to my old place

and I found out that the the water stopped inches from getting above the top of the foundation and the first

floor. The saltwater got high enough on the side of the house to take out the ac unit which was on ground

level. My neighbor across the street pretty much lost everything as he had a step down first floor without

an elevated foundation block.

It was a scorcher down here yesterday and Monday, that's for sure. Today there should be more of an onshore component, so the high will likely come early. As for the boardwalk, two blocks of it are open I believe, from Long Beach Rd. to Edwards. It's good to see the city finally start coming back from Sandy's devastation, but there's still a long ways to go.

Yeah, some of my friends recently got back in their houses after a long stint at the Red Roof Inn. A few people that

I know had to walk away since their places were totaled and FEMA didn't offer them enough for repairs. But it was nice

to see the new McDonald's finally repaired on my way into town. Had another great lunch at Gino's.

Yep, all good stuff. We're the last hospital affected by Sandy still to be closed, hopefully this is rectified soon. Lots of houses being demolished now, which I guess is a good thing since money is finally being delivered to do such things and rebuild.

12z 4km NAM has sea-breeze pushing island over NYC and LI between 1-4pm:

These graphics are incredibly useful.

I've noticed sometimes the 4km NAM can be a little aggressive with the seabreeze near the immediate coast.

But recently I was in OC MD and it was spot on. Predicted a deck of thick low clouds just offshore from 12-3pm pushing inland by 4, and it was correct.

That was really cool, to see the low cloud deck racing from S to N just a few hundred feet offshore as a result of strong S winds. Have never seen that on the NJ Coast.
