One of the notable aspects of this event is the amount of big city observation sites that recorded severe criteria winds from the Midwest all the way to the east coast. Here's a list of some peak gusts:

Fort Wayne, IN: 91 mph

Dayton, OH: 82 mph

Columbus, OH: 72 mph

Washington, DC: 70 mph

Baltimore, MD: 66 mph

South Bend, IN: 62 mph

Richmond, VA: 59 mph

We didn't see any of the action but it still actually got pretty dark outside from the sheer density of the blowoff. Hard to believe this was a year ago.  Doesn't even feel like the same time of year. Last year we were crossing every finger and toe for an MCS to bring ANYTHING in the way of action or precip and today we're watching surface low pressure retrograde in from Canada/NE.

It could have been worse here as far as injuries because there was an outdoor event scheduled at the Air Force Museum. One of the local channels started doing continuous coverage of the storms both on TV and a radio station they also work with as they moved in to the northwest parts of the Miami Valley due to said event and the very strong winds already observed. A combination of the coverage and the early timing of the storms kept lots of people from heading to the Museum.
