Jefflaw77
Maps like this should be banned until 72 hours out... While I love this map, i can't go nuts just yet b/c last week just broke my heart.. However, I can't say that the excitment about this upcoming event isn't there.. Hoping for the best!!!!! Consolation for you should be the fact that the storm this week had a completely different and way more complex set up than this thing. This storm has such a nice upper level look to it, with the ridging over Canada and the amplification the storms takes later on. Also, the storm is already one when it gets to the northeast, as opposed to this weeks storm, everything had to come together at the right place and right time over the north east to make it a storm. Isotherm
12Z GFS can be summed up technically in one sentence = northern and southern stream short waves phase, trough acquires neg tilt upon reaching the VA capes followed by closing off at H5. One sentence non-technically = this is the most gorgeous set up we've seen all winter.

NortheastPAWx
Lots of snow to go around this run...at least 6" for all of Eastern PA, 12" I-
Isotherm
Looks like about a 24 hour storm on the GFS. Light snow begins 06z Christmas Eve, continues and intensifies by morning, peak of the storm is Christmas Day afternoon into the evening, light snow tapers by 06z Christmas night. If true we'd be talking a solid MECS for sure.

Isotherm
Yes.. H85 http://www.nco.ncep....fs_850_150s.gif H5 http://www.nco.ncep....fs_500_156s.gif H7 http://www.nco.ncep....fs_700_150s.gif They all take a track across sern PA-southern NJ. Best place to be this run is NYC-BOS corridor.
Sampson
seems like about 1.5 + qpf for NYC. Boston gets even more.
hudsonvalley21
Hope one of these porn runs will come true. Here ais a good time to start. And the weenie weekend rule too! Stock up on vodka and eggnog.
Ridingtime
Only thing I wish was different is the speed of the storm. I want it to stall and retrograde hehe. Then it'd be a bonafide HECS. Lack of crazy blocking allows it to depart more quickly I guess.
ace0927
Sub 980 surface low going directly over the benchmark with the CCB still hammering NYC and SNE at 156. have you ever seen the GFS so consistent with a solution as it has been 9 straight runs now
Isotherm
Actually there's a tail of 1.5" extending back to CNJ. Buried.
Jefflaw77
While this would be amazing- and would bring a white Christmas (actual snowfall too) for Christmas, something not seen for a very long time, but this could be a very serious travel situation... JB is going to go nuts...
Stormlover74
NYC had accumulating snow on christmas in '02 but that started as rain and didnt go over to snow until late in the day/evening. If this solution were to happen it would likely be snowing well before Christmas morning and all day long effectively shutting down travel for the day/weekend. I couldn't even imagine the implications While this would be amazing- and would bring a white Christmas (actual snowfall too) for Christmas, something not seen for a very long time, but this could be a very serious travel situation...
