salbers
The 129F at Volcan CA is not recognized as an official record. Steve Can you explain this in more detail. At least in this news article it mentions the 129 record at Volcano. http://www.usatoday.com/story/weather/2013/07/01/death-valley-heat-record/2480019/ Thanks, Steve

aslkahuna
Apparently the observation at Volcano was not made under standard WMO procedures nor was the 130F measured at Amos CA (a town in the Salton Sink that disappeared when the sink was flooded forming the Salton Sea). In a Weahterwise aricle exploring the World's heat records and problems with many of them by Dr. Randy Cerveny (US member and chairman of the WMO Commission that verifies records and which disallowed the Libyan 136F reading), Death Valley not only holds the world's record currently but is the only station currently recognized by WMO as reaching 129F in the World. aslkahuna
Tucson tied its record of 39 consecutive days for a new record. Meanwhile with 100+F temperatures today-could possibly hit 100 again tomorrow meanwhile, boomers tonight are going to go ballistic and already have.
