Things have quited down here now but we were the breeding ground for several storms/lines this afternoon.  The were literally blossoming just SW of here and moving right over head in a NE direction very early in their life.  Quite a few very loud claps of thunder and brief downpours lead to another 0.40" or so.  Pushing 8.50" on the month now.

Mercy.  No mas.  Uncle.

Impressive pics, eyewall - particularly the lightning!

In other news, a surprise beauty of a day in coastal Maine. Was at Splashtown with the kids figuring to deal with pm storms but they never materialized. No complaints! Let's have the same for tomorrow - got some climbing to do in the mountains :)

Thank you and enjoy the mountains

Agreed on the pics - eyewall catches some of the very best.

Currently in the tail end of the year's best TS to date - had the most hail I've seen here in 15+ years, though nowhere near svr criteria.  Saw a few 1/2" chunks but most were 1/4" and they never even showed on the grass though the vehicles were rattling nicely, especially the one nearest the porch that fielded the roof bounces.  The first hailstones beat the rain to the ground - for a minute or two it was just scattered ice, then a 25 mph gust accompanied the +RA and visibility dropped under 1/4 mile.  Only had a few short (minute or two) periods of sun in the aft and barely got over 70, but it was enough.

Had less rain today than yesterday, 1.84" versus 1.86".  The 1.35" in the gauge at 9 (emptied 0.49" at cocorahs time) was more than I'd thought.  We might have gotten 0.5-0.6" in 5 minutes in the 1st TS, the one with some hail, rather than the 0.3" I'd thought.  First time I saw puddles in our cracked stone driveway.  We've had 3 more episodes of +RA since, though none like that first toad strangler.  Month now at 8.34", still only 5th among 16 often rainy Junes here, but last year (9.06") and 2006 (8.88") may also get passed, and even 2009 (9.76") isn't safe.  Only 1998 with 12.81" is out of reach - I hope!!
