I just dump out the core into a small pot and melt it on low heat

I'm with dendrite, but then I'm often in hot water.  I wouldn't trust myself to pay sufficient attention to the pot, maybe allowing some boiling and loss to evaporation.

Sunny and upper 80s with dews mid-upper 60s in AUG.  No sign of yesterday's cumulus, which were abundant midday then all but disappeared by 5 PM.

I stay right by the stove, When its 3/4 melted, I remove it and swirl it around to melt the rest so its luke warm at best if at all

4pm NH temps...

LEB 93

CON 92

MHT 92

ASH 91F

DAW 91F

LCI 91F

1P1 90F

It's kinda strange to see LEB in the lead this time of year. Huge MOS fail in S NH today.

Highest I saw in New England (on the GYX list, anyway) was 94 at MLT, with TD 53, HI 91.  All the N.Maine stations have dews in the 50s (and most have temps in the 90s.)

I expect the 89 I recorded on June 1 to stand for the season's high, though today should come within a degree or two.

Lol @ everyone in Vermont freaking out when it hits 90 degrees.

No we freak out when it hits 80.  At 90 it is too darn hot to put the effort into a good freakout.  We are sort of like golden retrievers this way.

Hey now....we freak out more over 90 than -20 lol

Lol that's so true.

Station history of 90 degree days:

2013: 7 days so far

2012: 10 days

2011: 6 days

2010: 10 days

2009: 4 days

2008: 4 days

2007: 8 days

2006: 6 days

2005: 1 day (station went only July 28th)

These numbers would be more impressive if I could count 89 degree days.

Make sure you count 89.5+.

I'm about to go out and perform maintenance on the station. I turned the cam off...last temp I saw was 153.5F.

Maybe I missed your reply, but did you ever notice the number of your temp/hum sensor? I'm assuming it's 11.

Yeah, I looked up the data using wunderground which rounds the 89.5's up for me.

I swear, as soon as I finished putting my station back together I remembered you wanted to know the number.  Totally forgot.  :axe:

You should use silicone to stick two short pieces of wood, like a 1x1, at the front and back of the cam housing.  Then rest a piece of white wood or something on them to keep sun off the enclosure.... it'd probably help a lot.

I'd still like to move the cam up higher and aim it more NW rather than W. I'd like more sky in the image.

Given my leafy thermometer location, I probably should use 85 for "hot" rather than 90.  Since moving here in 1998 (records begin 5/17) I've recorded 135 days at 85 or warmer in 15+ years, avg 8.8/yr.  However, the top 4 yr, 1999, 2001, 2002, and 2010, have 73 of the 135, and avg 18.3 while the rest avg 5.5 with a high of 9 and a low of only 2 in 2004.

Avg by month:  APR 0.07; MAY 0.81; JUN 2.06; JUL 3.07; AUG 2.00; SEP 0.80

By year

1998....9 (w/o April

1999...22

2000....3

2001...20

2002...18

2003....6

2004....2

2005....9

2006....5

2007....7

2008....3

2009....4 Includes only April occurrence, but none in June/July.

2010...13

2011....5

2012....5

2013....4 so far

Up to 87° here yesterday at 875', 1.5 miles NW of downtown Montpelier.  Dews held in the lower 60's.  No A/C, so I'm looking forward to the cold front this weekend.  I spent 18 years in Panama City, Fl.  Moved here to escape this kind of weather.  Next house when my mother passes...1,500 ft. elevation at least.  Modest but efficient abode.  Maybe a Huntington home on some private land.  Comments welcome.
