When did we start doing damage surveys for gustandoes?  Haha

PUBLIC INFORMATION STATEMENT
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE MOUNT HOLLY NJ
449 PM EDT TUE JUL 23 2013

...GUSTNADO CONFIRMED NEAR CEDAR GLEN WEST, OCEAN COUNTY, NEW
JERSEY...

A GROUP OF WEATHER SERVICE METEOROLOGISTS COMPLETED A STORM SURVEY
JUST OUTSIDE OF CEDAR GLEN WEST THIS AFTERNOON. DURING THE AFTERNOON
OF JULY 22, 2013, AT APPROXIMATELY 5:10 PM, A GUSTNADO WITH WINDS UP
TO 60 MPH BROUGHT DOWN SEVERAL TREES AND RESULTED IN SOME MINOR ROOF
DAMAGE. THANKS TO CHRIS ALDRICH, LOCAL FIRE DEPARTMENT COORDINATOR,
AND EILEEN GRAHN, A RESIDENT, FOR THEIR ASSISTANCE WITH REGARDS TO
THIS SURVEY.

FOR REFERENCE, A GUSTNADO IS A SMALL WHIRLWIND WHICH FORMS AS AN
EDDY IN THUNDERSTORM OUTFLOWS. THEY DO NOT CONNECT WITH ANY CLOUD
BASE ROTATION AND ARE NOT TORNADOES. THEY ARE CLASSIFIED AS
THUNDERSTORM WIND EVENTS AND CAN CAUSE DAMAGE SIMILAR TO THAT OF A
WEAK TORNADO.

Wow...down to 51 already at 3:30AM! Wondering if we can dip into the 40's before sunrise???

Sign of things to come! Did I see Bradford PA down to 39?! Mid to upper 50's here in these parts of Northampton county so far. Refreshing!

No 40's here. It only dropped one more degree sometime after I left for work. My station shows the low at 50 this morning.

This is the kind of year we need to keep the tropical systems away. I have the same nauseated feelings I did during the summer of 2011 and then Irene happened.
