when was the last time we had such a strong WAR retrogression? the large area of 594 dm heights coming west is impressive

It seems the anomalously low heights over the Arctic, especially near Greenland, are leading to a rare expansion of the subtropical ridge. Looking out west, you have an area of 30C 850s forecasted on the GFS that stretches from the Southern Plains to the Pacific Northwest. Similar situation with the West Atlantic Ridge which appears to be keeping rain away from the coast.
