weatherwiz
Given how strong the shear is, we may just not have enough buoyancy from preventing the updrafts from tilting too soon...preventing them from really growing large enough to utilize the colder air aloft and strong winds aloft. Mr. Windcredible!
That must be an epic lightning producer over LIS. Sun shining here with cloud deck visible to south. But the sound of distant thunder is nearly constant. I wish I had a few minutes to drive down to the town beach right now and catch a glimpse of it over the water. Quincy
Nice picture, Quincy. Thanks, I saw your post and was seeing if I could catch any lightning. No such luck, but I was able to snap a few pics of the cloud structure.

Typhoon Tip
These weakish cells up along Rt 2 have had some impressive CG actually. Their rain shafts were semi-transparent with several multi-pulse strokes. Had a nice cool outflow from one of them too. I bet the sounding is borderline micro-burst

ROOSTA
Appears the cells in the Rt.2 corridor are going to miss just to the north of my locale. Ray's area looks good to get clipped.
tamarack
Fairly noisy TS thru AUG 3-3:20. A co-worker saw some pea hail (assume 1/4") for about 10 seconds half a mile away, but no bouncers on the paved sidewalks outside my window. Some 55+ dbz echoes both NE and NW of AUG, the latter in Rome about where the treekiller hailstorm hit in 2007(though that one had pixels of 70 dbz.) Now we'll see if the 2nd bunch holds together as it moves into Maine.

radarman
The stuff crossing Rt. 2 east of Charlemont is showing much higher winds than anything I've seen so far, granted the radar beam is pretty high off the ground out there.

weatherwiz
This is ridiculous, absolutely ridiculous. It's always something here. We could have a PERFECT setup and a bunch of canary's flying south could fart and that would develop a warm pocket aloft which would prevent convection from developing high updrafts
