I was out in Dupont on 17th St during the derecho last summer and that neighborhood actually was pretty unscathed by the derecho compared to a few blocks north driving out of the city. Did you take pictures? Those pictures of trees down in the neighborhood streets are always pretty neat because of how narrow the patches of grass are. MN Transplant
Got a weaker part here but huge gust in first few seconds.. Prob 50+ 38 mph at DCA, 50 mph at a non-standard height in north Arlington. Wild day. Just crazy. 25 mph gust at my house. 0.14" total daily rainfall. Epic.
hosj III
SPC 4pm Update... day1probotlk_2000_torn.gif Still 0. lol. seems DC's worst storms come when the SPC odds are lowest.

adelphi_sky
PEPCO doing much better than in past storms lol They cut down a ton of trees in my area. All along power lines. My power flickered twice and that's it.
WEATHER53
This was not like last years but about 35-40% of forecast area would label this anything but a bust.

Same - two flickers/surges here that caused tech to reboot. Maybe we are on the same big feeder.
RickinBaltimore
We were moved downstiars in my office here in Columbia, prior to that I thought I saw a bit of rotation with the clouds moving in. I know winds were ridiculous for a bit.

gymengineer
We had a mod risk on the derecho day but not early in the day. 7/25/10, Commutageddon, and the derecho were all 150,000+ outages for Pepco. I don't think there's a weak/sick tree left standing in their service area. Of course the tree trimming helps too...
Dsnowx53
Wow, pretty impressive. Nice photos everyone. I think the SPC was right in cutting the risk area a bit, but I think they overcompensated. There was still some pretty nice recovery with sfc temps and dews despite the MCS mixing out some moisture.
