BxEngine
You mean, not really to it not being post-tropical or because of the cause of it being post-tropical? I mean it going post tropical didnt cause it to remain tropical like rains in a cooler temp. It was just an observation.
IntenseBlizzard2014
I mean it going post tropical didnt cause it to remain tropical like rains in a cooler temp. It was just an observation. Oh. Okay. I guess it's because of the gusty winds. This winds here are pretty high. Winds from the NE @ 20 mph, gusting at 28 mph. Pretty chilly here. Same here. The slightest radar return offers up .01" downpour lasting for a minute. Very strange indeed. Has to do with the radars inability to identify the more numerous smaller droplets compared to the more spaced apart larger droplets we see from our typical extra tropical systems. That air getting lifted over the stationary front and convergence zone has been what has been making the insane rain totals today. Still don't think it's entirely done when the core comes by, although I think it will be somewhat anticlimactic compared to what happened from 3-6PM on western Long Island. Lido Beach is up to almost 6" of rain as of 11PM.
