2.5" last hour over the ocean south of Long Beach.

Wow, much of Nassau could be up to 2-3" by the time this training batch swings through, no problem. Must be lots of road flooding. It's coming down moderately here in Midtown, hopefully the LIRR cooperates tonight and doesn't get bogged down like it usually does.

Places like National and Park are probably turning into lakes as we speak.

I just got a call from LB and the water is over the curbs at National and Park and waves from

the cars are hitting the front doors of the shops there.

Reminiscent of the August 2011 deluge where over 10" of rain fell a week before Irene. The last thing anyone needs in LB is more basement/house flooding, which I fear is likely happening again. And tonight's rain will likely be just as bad.

That 10+was the heavies rain that I experienced in 12 hours living in Long Beach. My two hour record was 5.15"

with an overnight back building thunderstorms during 6-22-95 that undermined a water pipe causing a boiled

water advisory until it was fixed.
