The low is tracking northeast. There has been convection firing on the edge of that dryslot. I think it definitely overtakes all of SE MA. BOS-PVD will be right on the line.... Could be that type of rain where heavy rain one minute, a lull the next, seems like being near the dry line in winter or summer always results in very cellular type of overrunning rains that might even have a peek of sun. (or sky since it would be nighttime)

1 inch now here... how much you got there?

2.5" looking easier and easier.

That just goes to show you how off some tipping gauges can be.  I measured .25" this morning in my 4" gauge while the electronic one only had .09".  That same gauge is reporting .63" when the actual amount is over an inch.  There's a reason I like my old manual equipment!

3) SEVERE WEATHER AND THUNDERSTORM POTENTIAL...

WATCH THE DRY SLOT AS IT MOVES NORTH...AN ENVIRONMENT OF FAVORABLE
INSTABILITY. THIS REGION IS EXPECTED TO MOVE ACROSS SOUTHEASTERN
NEW ENGLAND...ADJACENT SOUTH AND EAST OF THE LOW TRACK. THE
NOCTURNAL PASSAGE IS LIKELY TO LIMIT THE LEVEL OF INSTABILITY...
BUT THE MINOR AMOUNT UP TO 200 J/KG COUPLED WITH SHEAR COULD LEAD
TO ISOLATED THUNDERSTORMS WITH THE MAIN THREATS BEING HEAVY RAIN
AND DAMAGING WINDS. AN ISOLATED TORNADO IS NOT OUT OF THE QUESTION
BUT FEEL MORE INSTABILITY IS WARRANTED. HAVE LOW CONFIDENCE.

Yeah, always good to have an old fashioned rain gauge to double check! .

That's a calibration issue. The rates aren't high enough to cause huge errors from spillage during the tip.
