Yeah, it certainly looks to continue to be wet. I haven't looked at the departures from normal vs. last year for my neck of the woods. Maybe the lack of hot makes it seem cooler than it really is. All I know is that it has felt great and we've had more days in the 70s and less days in the 90s to this point than I anectodally ever remember.

Last year the departure for Raleigh was -1. This year the departure was -1. Last year though that -1 departure was with 2 105 degree temps. So last June was actually by far way cooler. The end of the month is what got everyone thinking it was so hot.

Currently 93 with a heat index of 102.

some of you guys are crazy... Ill take June 2013 and all of the precip over June 2012 and the drought ridden conditions everytime. I dont care what the departures say this spring, including June has been fantastic. There has also been far less humidity this year as well despite the rainfall in copious amounts.

100% agree, MariettaWx!  I have almost recorded 10 inches of rainfall IMBY this June, which is almost three times greater than that which was recorded last June.  My average temperature is relatively the same as last June, but the moisture makes everything so much more vibrant and green and pleasant.  Spring 2013 has been awesome!

That's the difference! The entire SE is not in the drought that seemed to go on forever. But down here and in Florida, our entire drought was wiped out by Debby in June.

Me too. I haven't looked at the departures (so, I appreciate the data, Metallica). I'm sure it just seems cool given the lack of 90 degree days in this area. Like I said before, the lack of 90+ and the abundance of 70s and rain has made for a delightful spring and start to summer. The drought has ended (or at least been suspended) in a BIG way. It's so unusual to have more flooding concerns than drought concerns these days. It's a nice turn-around.

I'm trying to determine what raining like hell would really mean.  If hell is a place of eternal punishment normally envisioned with fire and brimstone, then I want no part of raining like hell in fayetteville.  In fact, I would begin to question whether Fayetteville even still exists at this moment.  NCsandhills, are you still with us?  Can anyone confirm conditions in this part of the state?

;)

Ha!  Well, whatever is coming out of the sky there, it looks to continue for a good while.  It's also building north, slowly but surely.  Only a few miles from my house now, which is just north of the northernmost returns.

The flash flood warning says they are seeing rainfall rates in excess of 2 inches an hour.

Got a whopping .15 the day before yesterday, in two separate showers.  Yesterday I got a few drops in several droppings.

As for raining like hell...I think it a question of semantics and connotation.  Raining like hell would be understood to mean raining very hard...an exceedingly robust dropping of rain water.

Raining as in hell would mean fire and brimstone....a napalm air burst would approximate drops of burning, hellish hellrain. Visions of the witch in the Wizard of Oz melting  come to mind.

A similar, but not as searing experience would be to have a 102 degree day ending in a diseased cloud limping over and dropping 1000 huge burning drops of sickwater, while monkey demons fly around over head....kind of like the average day in Waycross, and only occasionally in July/Aug in Griffin :)  T

.14" yesterday. There was a cluster of storms just off to the SE of here (Benson/Four Oaks area) that were putting out nonstop thunder for over an hour. It would rumble then rumble off and rumble back and rumble up and down and all around. Kept hoping it would creep up this way, but only got to within about 3 miles. We only got a smattering from that. The accumulating showers came around dusk.

The rarest phenomenon is, snowing like hell.  Often reported, very rarely verified.

Nice interpretation, T-man!  That helps.  I often need a translator to understand colloquial expressions.

Currently, there is a nice thunderstorm outside going through the motions.  Thunder, lightning, heavy rain, yada, yada, yada...

These pulse thundershowers are rather frustrating. The last couple days, I've seen on radar a huge blob of dark red and yellow making a beeline right towards here. A couple times, I've even gone out and removed the funnel and inner tube from the CoCoRaHS gauge in anticipation of maximum capture, knowing that when that big red blob gets here dropping down at inches/hour, there will be some loss due to splash out. Needless to say, it hasn't rained hard enough to even splash, as the storms all seem to wash out within a mile or 2 of the house, and we're left with dust settlers. Oh well... at least we have a good shot at getting one of them to hover overhead at some point this week.... far better than anything the past few summers ;)

Pretty much the same here.  In fact it is happening again as I type this.

Dry here today. Had some late night thunder the last two nights. Total rain about .14 :)

Sent from my iPhone , using two thumbs at the same time, while watching blu ray player, while listening to my iPod ,and using push to talk also

Lol that is hilarious. That app does that. Not me.

This storm is just torturing me. 3+ per hour rates with 45-55mph winds.
