... June 2013 climate summary for Jacksonville...

... near normal temperatures... highly variable rainfall...

June highlights included Tropical Storm Andrea which passed west

of Jacksonville on June 6th and 7th. The storm initially made

landfall on the Gulf Coast near Steinhatchee then moved northeast

across North Florida and southeast Georgia. No major damage was

reported ... though waterspouts did make landfall at Mayport and

Fernandina Beach. Most rainfall amounts were less than 4 inches.

The rest of the month had the normal Summer pattern of stalled

fronts and low pressure troughs. These brought isolated severe

thunderstorms and additional rainfall. Rainfall extremes for June

ranged from 3 inches at Starke to 18.5 inches near Waycross.
