Rain, rain, rain. We had rain in the morning and rain in the afternoon and rain tonight and there is rain the in forecast. Lol well if the models are right we could be dealing with some major localized flooding in the near future. The last two day we have picked up 2.65 inches of rain. Crazy.

I'm at 17.07 inches of rain for the month which I'm pretty sure is a record for this area. I can't say that it is because we might have had more some other time in the past. For some reason, our rainfall says 0.00 everyday in the past. They keep temperature records though. That's what 3 huge stationary thunderstorms can do, along with a tropical storm and many other nickel and dime events.

40 miles is pretty common... Some can be seen from 100.. You seem to find normal and common things impressive today.

This made me lol.

But yeah, I have seen lightning from my backyard from a storm over the FL/GA border at night. It would have been a different story if he said he saw lightning 40 miles away during the daylight hours.

We haven't had more than .1 of rain any day this week downtown! Mountains have really been moisture robbing lately.

We picked up about .75" with a good 40-45 mph gust at my location. It was awesome watching it from the restaurant. The sky cleared enough about an hour later to see the lightning show all around Columbus. It was spectacular! Something I surely miss since I usually don't stay up that late. Stupid 3AM wake up call! haha!

I'm still hedging my bets that Columbus will see drier air move in Sunday & Monday before the moisture surges back for the end of next week. It's not looking good for the 4th of July festivities... :/ Last year it was heat... This year it's rain. It's tough being a weatherman sometimes.

This was one of the spectacular pictures a viewer, Joanne, sent in to us last night.

The Atlanta tv mets said the storms broke up because it was too stable here. Yet dps are in the low to mid 70s...

Well, the outflow boundaries left me in good shape yesterday afternoon and evening.  After the line washed out just northwest of me, the boundary brought me .6 a few hours later, then another batch missed me, reforming  to the southwest, but a boundary brought me .25 in the evening.  So .85 for yesterday wasn't bad at all considering how I'd got lots of nothing for the 4 days preceding

I started this thread wanting a return of the afternoon pop up like in the old days, and it succeeded beyond my wildest dreams, just not over me, lol.  So I'm hoping to close out the month on a high note...along with no 90's for June!!  The Experiment Station had a 90 on the 13th, but I had an 89.8 in my yard for the highest temp of the month.  My kind of June!!  I hate freakin' 90's, even worse than a warm winter..well, maybe not worse, but equally anyway :)  Tony

90 at KATL at 2 PM. Will they hold at no higher than their previous highest of 91?? No telling. Moles need to be quite vigilant right now!

Tstorm (thanks to the moles??) and 90 at 3 PM at KATL. it was 90 at 2 PM. Did they sneak to 92 during that hour? I don't know. We'll find out later!

Sitting on the front porch, waiting to hear the first rumble of thunder from the approaching storms... What a muggy evening.

At least your severe thunderstorm warning didn't fall apart lol. Enjoy!

Widespread 1-4 inches across S GA and N FL. Today was an epic fail for my backyard. We'll try again tomorrow.

I don't know...it hasn't gotten here yet. I have witnessed many a storm dissipate just to my west. I'm on the porch and without going inside and going upstairs to the computer, I can't see a good radar. Last I looked, the line was pretty solid. My BB is not adequate for good, real-time radar images.

Folks,

It is over. It hot 92 at katl at 2:29. The moles tried valiantly to once again stop the dreaded 92 and failed this time. However, listen to that applause! They're on their feet for the moles. The humans know great mole efforts when they see it. They'll still get the royal treatment at the beach.

Nice cell popped up and I watched it pour less than 200 yards north of the house.Picked up .10 on the edge but it was a whiteout that I could see and hear, but it never moved close enough.

We got nailed on it. Very heavy rain and gusty winds. Not much thunder or lightning though it was a strong cell on radar.  Looks like some more storms are coming. I hear the thunder growing louder.

Huge increase in lightening in the last 5 minutes.

Pretty decent jump in instability from Raleigh east so maybe this line will build up some, Scape still 2-4K  in the east so as long as this doesnt get a big outflow in front of it it should maintain and most likely get a bit worse the next 1-2 hrs.
