June and meteorlogical summer opens on a hot note.  Wondering if any cloud debris reaches our area tomorrow.  Otherwise more 90s and the seasons first heatwave.  we cool things down mon - thu next week with drier and california-like conditions.

Made it 90 here in Monroe.. Very nice weekend and an overall great week since memorial day.   Quick look at today;s highs looks like EWR and some others made 90.  LGA, NYC just short at 89 and 88.

Going to be an interesting week of weather as we cool things down tomorrow and then have west coast lilke weather tue and wed with dry and temps in the 70s.  By thu a humid s-sse flow develops and with that the increased chance for rain.  ECM and various runs of the gfs have a tropical wave track from Florida up the coast fri - sat.  Should such a scenario occur - we'd be looking at widespread heavy rains fri/sat...  Those looking for the next round of heat will likely need to wait till after next weekd.  There is somewhat of a signal on various guidance we may see next spoke of heat some time on/around the 12th....  Ill add more in the summer thread after tonights runs.

Had heavy rain here this morning with 0.96 falling...that was early this morning, the heavy rain that fell around newark just after midnight missed me to the west.

Yeah I had a decent amount of thunder and lightning last night but the heavy rain mostly stayed to my east. But this morning I got hit pretty hard from that batch around 830-9

It's possible that NYC will have to wait until June 15-30 for the next 90 degree day as a there should

be a trough over the East through day 10.

Most guidance over the last day  is strongly supporting this scenario.  I think any widespread and multi day 90 degree heat is not likely the next week to 10 days with the trough pushing into the east and a more humid s-sse flow prominent.  We could see a day or two where temps spike under the right conditions but looking ahead the next heat signal is looking possible the week of the 16th as the Rockies/Plains ridge builds east...   We'll see how it evolves but the main theme 6/4 - 6/15 is likely normal-below temps and increased rain chances....

Yep, agree with the above posts, and believe that June will not be a warm month overall with respect to normal. Our next heat wave will likely occur in the typical June 15th-30th time frame. Until then, wet and generally cooler than normal. Summer of sustained heat this will not be, as Yoda would say.
