Some cumulus built up a bit today, but the storms stayed northeast of the area, just like the last few days.

Was in East Moline earlier this evening.  There's some huge oak trees that were snapped off a few feet above the ground from the storms last Mon.  Along one stretch of road there were huge piles of tree debris on the curb in front of about every residence.  80mph+ winds had to have tore through that area.

66° degrees right now with dew point at 64.

There's a decent size cell now that just merged with smaller ones in southeastern Wisconsin. Heading south towards chicago area.

I wonder if it will get severe or bow out on the way down. Not enough heat or moisture concerns me. If tonight had the heat and dews from lastnight, then without a doubt the cell would strengthen. Waking up in the morning with a monster knocking at the door with crazy thunder and winds is always fun.

stabilizing effect of the lake breeze apparent on radar. Pushing the rain to the SW out of Chicagoland. I've had a cell sitting over me for the last 30 minutes that keeps backbuilding. Should be it for a while once it moves through.

Yeah those showers must be pretty intense if they're anything like yesterday's. That area of rain is just sitting out there. It prompted a flood advisory now...

We were dry yesterday, but this afternoon potent little cells continually popped up across the area.  The final cell an hour ago came with gusty wind and sheets of heavy rain.  I ended up with about 0.30".  Overall the wind today wasn't as strong as I expected, which is nice considering yesterday's 35+ mph gusts partially broke one of my good container plants.  My June rainfall is up to about 7.40".

Another burst of heavy rain here.  This time it started with the sun out full blast.  Looked pretty cool looking out the west windows.  Still raining, and up to 0.83" for the day.  Turned into a pretty potent little rain event.  Just what we needed.  :axe:   Now over 6" for the month.  Wonder if we'll see any 90s in July with all this ridiculously wet ground around the corn belt.

Certainly not looking that hot for the early part of July. There are some signs that things may trend warmer after that so we'll see. There's gonna be hell to pay if that western heat dome ever decides to pay a visit lol

With today's rain, KARB is now up to ~4.27" in 96 hours. Weather Underground's station history for the entire month says we're up to 8.31" , and while that might be slightly overstated, they seem to have been counting the ASOS reports mostly accurately the past few days so I'm going to say it's correct to +/- 0.5 inch or so.

KARB is not a site of record, but 8.31" is definitely in record territory for pretty much any station in SE Michigan in June. The official Detroit record is - get this - 8.31" as well (set in 1892)! So a record month for us. KDTW is officially at 5.95", which is good for 9th place and the wettest June in 20 years.

71 at LAF today. Just got home from an outdoor party out in the sticks...almost felt a touch chilly out there tonight. Almost.

9.95" in April.

4.58" in May.

6.27" in June.

20.80" of rain here in the last 3 months.  Asinine.

Looks like you've pretty much doubled your rainfall/precipitation to date versus last year, YTD.

January 1- June 30, 2012: 14.07"

January 1- June 30, 2013: 28.02"

For comparison, normal precipitation YTD for MLI is 18.35".

Anyway, it's raining here again this morning. 9 out of the last 10 days it's done so. Last June it was hard to buy a drop of rain.

Really nice morning. Sunny and in the upper 60s right now. Bottomed out at 59°.

A more modest 15.69" of rain here in the last 3 months. Last Apr., May, June I only had 6.93". What a difference a year makes!

Side note: Low of 98° in Death Valley this morning. Looking at about 130° today.  :yikes:  :maphot:
