There has been a complete lack of heat thus far in June. The hottest temp is 82F. I took a peak at my Max/Min list to scan through past Junes....

Since 1887 (I dont have complete records from 1874-1886)....

36 out of 126 years did not see a 90F+ temp in June, so 28.6% of the time June features no 90F heat. And we could certainly see that happen this year (unless the LR GFS verifies the last few days of the month).

By comparison....only 11 of 126 Julys (8.7% of the time), including literally unheard of back-to-back years (2008 and 2009...right before our trio of hot summers), saw no 90F+ temps......and 24 of 126 Augusts (19.0% of the time) saw no 90F+ temps.

But back to June....here are the top lowest max temps in June

81F - 1916

84F - 1902

84F - 1928

85F - 1935

85F - 1985

86F - 1896

86F - 1903

86F - 1915

86F - 1982

After these 9 Junes listed above, 8 Junes had a max of 87F, 5 had a max of 88F, and 14 had a max of 89F. All the rest had a max of 90F+. SO FAR the max in 2013 is 82F. I personally dont think we will make that top 9 list of a max of 86F or lower, especially since the last 2 years during the warm season DTW seems to somehow always be one of the warmest high temps in all of SE MI (sans YIP), but I certainly think a no-90F June has a decent chance.

0.20" between yesterday and so far today. Already up to 78°.

Up over 7" compared to this time last year.

The difference between last June and this June is quite different. The grass is fully green and it won't stop growing! My pond has also been full the entire year so far with the regular rains.

Hottest here so far is 81 and that was on the 11th. Could beat it today?  Last year on this very day it made it up to 91 which was the 3rd 90+ day of the year vs none so far this year and highest temp being 88 back on May 20th..

I did not realize you guys were struggling that bad up there. We have recorded a high of 97 this far that was Wednesday the 11th. LR does have a possible heat wave building around the 25th of June. We'll see if that verifies. Had boomers roll through last night, all corn is sitting sideways at the moment.

88° already at RAC.

Just touched 87° here. West wind has been increasing, so no chance of a lake breeze anytime soon.

Well maybe not long... wind shift has taken place from Cudahy on northward.

Just think as of Friday, it's downhill towards Winter.... :snowing:

I'd say move to Alaska, but it's almost as warm up there..

No...move to the mountains...  Colorado at about 8000ft should be just fine...just watch out for fires.  Idaho, Utah, Wyoming...   Flagstaff, AZ probably has one of the most comfortable climates in the US...4 seasons, but nothing extreme and plenty of snow.  If there was one change I could make, I would have moved out west after high school.  Nothing like driving from Denver where its 90F and putting on a jacket at 14,000ft and walking across snow...  I've been to Colorado and Wyoming...  both are beautiful when you get into the mountains.

82F..more clouds filtering in...  had 86F yesterday, but escaped to the pool...  Has turned almost dry here lately.  This week should continue the pattern.

Definitely!  When I lived in Oregon, if it was going to be a hot day in the valley, we'd head up to the mountains to escape the worst of the heat.
