Not when temps plummet at sunset and you have to bring a long sleeved shirt at night. Hideous

I have to agree with you on this one. Last night we were out on the deck and it was nice until the sun started to go down, then the big chill set in. I used to love the cold weather, but it seems like each year I want more and more heat.

You used to enjoy summer. Now it seems you're like Will and despise it. Time for you to move into Northern Manitoba

I do enjoy summer...I just don't like high heat and humidity....just not worth it to me anymore and I feel like I hate it more and more every year.

You are probably the only person I know who likes high dew points.I bet a quarter to half the posters here either like them or aren't against them. Come on folks. Speak up. Let the support for high dews ring loud and ring proud

The hotter and humid the better. I'll take 95/73 any day of the week over 35 with windchill.

LOL at Kevin trying to pretend he is serious that most people like high dews. Typical hype propaganda from him.

Most of us don't pretend the general population loves blizzards/snow...so you don't need to do the same for high dews and excessive heat.

I'm actually a kind of hypocrite - -  I find the meteorology that produces heat waves to be interesting, and enjoy tracking their evolution, synoptically, but when the heat arrives I am less than thrilled.

In 2008, the June heat wave was a perfect example.  I did a fine job predicting that event, but had to work out side in it, and hated it.  It was 99F.  DP would have to be 30 or lower not to be uncomfortable in that temp!

I did a poll of members last year 85%-15% do not like them. Looks like the rain comes in before the day is over.

Sounds about right. I'd expect most polls to be over 75% in favor of drier dewpoints with heat.

So far Kevin has two old men on his side. Congrats.

I loved last night, sun set fired up the pit put on a light sweatshirt, calm cool and the star gazing was perfect. The pollution of light and air that comes with HHH is one subject I have not seen broached. Along with that heat and humdity comes mold spores, god awful smells in cities especially and air that is unhealthy. Ozone lovers unite.

The MOS products do not currently have DPs above 65 through Friday, and depending on site/time interval, some are in the upper 50s.   They may be too cool -- who knows.

This is a low to midland range heat event to me.  There isn't a more classic Sonoran air mass entrainment scenario preceding the ridge generation, and without that source "big heat" is limited.   Also, it is interesting that most global models are not interested in prolonging the presentation of a ridge in the flow.  It's out by early next week and replaced with normalcy.  I think, though, that the 00z Euro is out to lunch with another 0C, 850mb cooling event (this time for NS) ... over doing it.  Most the ensembles are more climo looking, and suggests that when this heat wanes, the ensuing cooling should be more seasonal in nature.

rain moving in quick...entering Greenwich now...washout by dinner time for all of CT?

"Might" end up with more clouds then actual rain.  The front edge of the rain shield seems to disintegrate as it heads into antecedent dry air mass.  Also, at this time of year the sun is so potent that it can kinda cook the middle troposphere, changing the complexion of instability and mechanics.  It can cause strata rains to weaken.

last couple of pages to this thread = win.

Anything to take the focus off of duldrms and end of the weak high temps talk.

uggghhh.

This past weekend's snow was great to discuss.  Makes October/November feel much more closer when snow is discussed so late in the season.  Now on to oppression, depression and heat stroke talk for the next few months.

Well I don't think this previous airmass was representative of cool summer wx. Up here that would be something like 73/48 and 78/55 down there.

I like (will tolerate) high dews if there's big convection to be had. Otherwise high dews suck. Its like brutal cold in the winter, If it leads to snow its ok if not then completely useless.
